I think rubber mat works better then plastic liner. Stuff won't slide around as much.

I wanted something different than the same ole same ole black BMW/Weathertech ones I've been using for the last 100 years. Since my X5 will be at the shore every weekend, I knew it had the beach-vibe I wanted when I saw it in Roundel from coco mars.com. I had to wait a while for them to get the pattern from BMW, and they gave me choices of cutouts for nets or not, but it fits like a glove, and no sand is getting under it! It's thick and really well made

I have no idea why..... but I like that! I don’t think I could do it, but I do like the color pop.

I am looking for a full liner as I haul dogs and am looking at the ultimate pet liner. Not a huge fan o& the shiny look, but it won’t hold dog fur and is water proof (no lip so don’t spill a lot of liquid). Each option has its pros and cons. https://www.cargoliner.com/collectio...mate-pet-liner

Thanks! I didn't think I could do it either but I'm glad I did because I really like it and the coverage and fit are perfect. Cleans really easily too. I'm waiting for them to have one for out x7, we'll go with a more subtle blue one for that.

Your link looks like a perfect liner for total coverage when you don't feel like vacuuming out dog hair from the side carpeting

OE cover is made by WT for BMW as far as I know. I might be wrong though.

Does the OEM one have a raised middle section or is that an optical illusion because of the design patterns? If it has a raised area, then that makes it a no-go for me to stack containers and boxes.

Where did you get the rubber mat? It looks like what we had in our Land Rover and E53. The plastic WT one we have in our F15 just slides around and curls up by the tailgate and drives us nuts. I would much rather have the rubber style again in our G05.

It's in the BMW accessory catalog for the G05. You do need to check the part database to get the correct BMW 11 digit part number for how your G05 is optioned (3rd row seat (yes/no), luggage compartment pkg (yes/no), or none of the aforementioned options (no/no).

Click link below to get (or see) which 11 digit part number you need..then type BMW xx xx x xxx xxx (where x=the actual BMW part number) into a google search box to find vendors that sell the item...or call your local BMW dealership's parts department and have them order it.

I have the factory cargo mat and it works great. You put things on it and they grip it and don't slide around.

Here's the OEM made for it:

That's the one I bought at the time of delivery. I'm not overly impressed with the thickness unlike the mat from the F15.

I believe WeatherTech makes the full mat, but the WeatherTech for my Audi wasn't the same thickness or quality of my original F15 mat either.

I am considering buying the X5 OEM cargo mat too but from the pictures posted here it seems not only the sides are raised but also the middle section is raised as compared to the wavy areas on the two sides. Or is that just an optical illusion because of the design patterns?

If the mat is not flat then how does it work with containers and boxes that would wobble if not on a flat surface?

What's your experience with the stability of the mat? Does it tend to move around or is it well stable throughout?

The reason I ask is that I went to get my mat (similar one as yours) from the dealership and it wouldn't stay put. Just a touch of the hand it would move. There is a velcro thing under it but its not much use.

Or did you use some other tricks to keep it from slipping and sliding inside.

It couldn’t slip or slide if it wanted to as it is molded to fit the space like a glove. And it still wouldn’t slide because it’s a very soft grippy vinyl/rubber material that grips the carpet it sits on and things you put on it grip it. My only complaint is no cut outs for the cargo hooks in the corners.

Update - I've been using the OEM mat for a little over 8 months and would not recommend it to anyone who frequently access the storage space underneath. The side edges have a reverse lip that catches/hangs/scrapes on both sides as you lower the hatch (and mat) back down. Once closed, left as is, the edges stay bent up/distorted and looks like crap. If you leave it that way, the tray gets sort of a memory and does not return to its original shape. Yes, to avoid the memory problem, you can pull the mat out and slide it back in - every time.....

Pretty bad design that functions poorly when used in conjunction with the cargo storage.

I had to cut small holes in the corners to push through the hooks for the net. for the most part that's what keeps it in place. At first the damn thing would move and block the door for the luggage compartment. That's the reason for my thickness comment and it's flimsy. I think they could have done a far better job. I think it's over priced.
