What car did you give up to get your G05?

Tomorrow I leave to go fetch the new G05 in Spartanburg. I spent the day washing and waxing the car the G05 replaces. In my case, my wife's 21 year old Ford Explorer XLT V8 we bought brand new back in 1998. After this amazing car was paid off in 2003, I asked my wife if she wanted a new car. Each year I asked her the same question and each year she gave me the same answer; "No, I love my car." When she saw the G05 she finally agreed to let go of her baby and get into the 21st century (literally). The G05 is what it took to pry her out of her car.

I never expected to keep this great car so long. No issues at all and it still runs like new at 130k miles. The Ford Explorer forums have owners getting 300k + miles so it has long life ahead of it. My job's done. It looks as good today as the day we bought it. Well, that's if you don't look too closely

Post photos what you gave up to get your G05. Here's mine.

The advanced tech. in this truck included Bluetooth and a 3.5mm Aux Input so I am looking forward to the technology in my G05 when it arrives next month.

I traded a 2018 GMC Yukon, which I only had for 7 months before trading for the X5. Before the Yukon I had a 2012 Audi S4, which was probably the best car I ever owned. I needed something that could go off-road.

2015 F80 M3. Absolutely loved it but needed something with more room and easier to haul kids around in.

We have an F80 M3 Comp, FJ Cruiser and Golf GTi.

The Golf's gotta go, the M3 May well be a keeper and I will never get rid of the FJ, best car ever made 🤪

You are going to have an absolute blast at the BMW Performance Center. I picked mine up there on Jan 15th and had an awesome road trip home. Congrats and have a safe trip home!

I sold my 2011 Panamera Turbo S to get the new G05. I missed being in an SUV since I had an E71 50i X6. Love the luxury sport combo of the new X5.

That is so awesome! Thanks for sharing. My Dad had a '63 Coupe de Ville and he let me borrow it to take my girlfriend to the prom. She was impressed enough to marry me 4 years later. We are still married after all these years and I've always credited that Cadillac for its role in the process. Cars are such an important part of our memories.

I agree, there is a good story behind this car too. I'll try and put together a little write up and post it.

Thanks. We are so excited. We have long-time friends in the Charlotte area. I'm bummed because I can't include them on the day of pickup, but I've got 6 tickets for the 2 hour factory tour the next day. They are a BMW family now due largely to my years of annoying them about how great they are. Now, the wife and the daughter drive BMWs and claim they will never go back. After the factory tour, I'm sure I'll hook the dad too. I warned him!

Then we make our way back to California visiting friends and family along the way. Southern route due to the time of year. I'll wave as we go through Louisiana.

Beautiful car! I wish modern ones had some class to their styling like they did in the '60s. While that was before my time I've always admired those classics
