Latest Software Version and what it does

A buddy of mine just picked up his X5 last night and has the following software version 03/2019.45. I did hear from another forum buddy Bichoo that his upgrade gave him the cornering lights functionality plus some other cool features like experience modes and "caring car" similar to the features on new 3 series.

My apologies if this is a repetitive thread. I'm hoping we could capture new releases and track the changes.

I unfortunately am still on 11/2018.68 as my dealership feels that software updates are performed to rectify a "fault notification'. Outside of that it would be at a cost of 2 hours labour. I am disputing this with BMW and will hear back shortly.

WTH is "caring car" feature?

I saw the 3 also has an app that lets you set the seat/wheel heaters come on below a certain temp. That would be great with remote start

i don't think you can. it's just what's displayed when you check current software version. mine never finds new upgrades either.

The OTA does nothing for me. We have to take it in to the dealership.

In regards to caring car I "think" based on what my buddy told me it activates a few features for a 3 min period to relieve stress.

The other feature in experience mode is to set a threshold of when the seats come on at a certain temperature. I think are other things like scent, etc.

I think this is the experience mode feature

Here is the what it says:

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant makes life easier for the driver. Among other things, it includes the ability to select an interior experience as a combination of seat conditioning, seat massage, interior temperature, fragrance and shading based on specifically defined Experience Modes.

So according to my buddy he is getting all this in 03/2019.45

I asked for this several times prior to delivery and they wouldn't update it. They actual want to charge me.

Good luck and yes, please keep us posted. These are great features to have and we should have them at no charge through a software update.

I've got CaringCar and Experience mode with 03/2019.35. They installed after a connected drive app refresh/update.

I'd be interested to understand what the differences are between .35 and .45

I believe that OTA upgrades relate to the iDrive firmware only. The firmware for the variety of ECUs in our X5s are not a part of OTA. If anyone knows differently, please chime in.

i am on .35 and was an April build. My text messages show "<unknown>" as contact name. Wondering if .45 fixes this?

I forgot to mention in my conversation with BMW I asked to know the details of .37. The senior manager at BMW said he would find out and let me know on Monday. Would be nice to get these details.

Well I took delivery yesterday and have 2019.35, despite asking to be updated. Interestingly the "invigorate me' functionality all works.

Some early connectivity issues with CarPlay, but I really haven't had time to fully investigate so will report back once I've spent more time with it.
