I'm assuming those "caring car" functions aren't available in the US bc they don't work for me on .35.

This is becoming a joke. BMW Canada is saying that I need to pay to activate features like the Corning Lights, Experience Mode, Caring Car and any other features. Regardless of these features being listed and talked about in the owners manual.

I'm bloody speechless.

Thanks Bichoo. I used the analogy of how iOS gets updated regularly with new features and fixes and made available to everyone at no charge and he referenced these features as Apps that we need to pay for! As for the cornering lights either thou described in the owners manual doesn't necessarily mean that those options are available on our cars. Incredible that my buddy's car was built 2 weeks later and had the updated software (03/2019.45) with all the features and yet they wanted to charge me.

With this type of response from BMW Canada I now have a far different perception of the brand. It's too bad because I truly love their products and currently in possession of three of them and for the past several years.

Next new vehicle is in 1.5 years. I foresee a brand change.

I got some info on my mid-April build that I am taking possession of on Sat. It came with 3/2019.35. The dealer will be installing 3/2019.45 plus a remote install of the "July cold steering issue fix pre-release" software. A weak theory is that perhaps that last part will take it to 3/2019.49 that is being mentioned, but that is currently unknown. Will know on Sat.

BMW Canada told me my vehicle doesn't have corning lights but suggested I check with the dealership.

I'm heading back to my dealership that serviced our cars previously. They are looking after me.

This forum is the best source of information. Kudos to the forum members.

Let me know if you don't get what you need. I am happy to tell them I won't take delivery until they demonstrate with me and others that they are willing to do the right thing and update software as part of good customer service. It laughable that they try these tricks; install takes the tech 10m of their direct time and 2 hours in the machine.

I wouldn't think you would want the residual to decline although the money factor going down would be good.

WT335i picked up his last week and had 03/2019.45. All the 3 features I mentioned are working on his. I'm not sure if his was built that way or they did the update. I guess you'll know at the time of delivery.

When the residual goes down they adjust the payment to be the same as quoted. So you essentially get the car for less than you agreed. If I buyout the car, which is likely on this one, my overall cost is less. Also if there are better incentives i get that as well.

Oh, must be a Canadian thing. Here they give you "no-harm" locks so if the MF goes down at delivery time you can take it. If it goes up or the RV goes down you get the original terms. Thanks for the info.

I haven't picked up my X5 yet. It is April built and just delivered to dealership. As per dealership, they need 48 hours for software upgrade and detailing. It will be ready by next week. I will see what software version was installed by then.

I'm wondering why we cant upgrade it ourselves? As per page 61 of owner manual, software upgrade can be done in three different ways. (▷ Automatic.
▷ Via iDrive. ▷ Via BMW Connected app.)

Any body tried self upgrade without asking dealership?

OTA updates are not available yet. Maybe by the end of this year they will release them.
