M240i front grills

I've noticed several threads about replacing these with all black after market pieces. Why not just plastic dip the chrome edges?

Plasti dip has a black matte finish, whereas the grills are gloss black. If you don't mind the contrast then I suppose it's fine, but if you're even slightly OCD like myself, that's just a big no-no

Not to mention I went with the dual slat kidney grills from IND. I think it looks better than the stock ones.

Thanx for the input guys. I've found that plastidip
has a glossifier spray to go over the matte
finish, may try that

Why not spend the $100 or so for a set of OEM M-Performance kidney grilles from get bmw parts dot com? You have a premium car, and cheaping out on spray-painting your grilles isn't going to enhance it.

I've played around quite a bit with plasti dip and the glossifier. It's not that easy to get the nice glossy, clean look you want. You can probably get away with it since it's a small area. From far away I'm sure it'll be fine, but really just spend the money on a legit grill and be happy with it

Or just use glossy paint, if that's what you're up to.

Truth.

PlastiDip = ghetto/JDM/rice/xthGenCivic.com

Just say no, OP. Basically what it says is "I'm too cheap to do this mod the right way" on virtually anything it's attempted on. For instance, I chuckle every time I see a European car with a Plasti-dipped wheel that, at the first touch of curb rash, inevitably look like its either shedding skin or was exposed to an acid bath.

I'd plastidip only to test something out before paying for the real deal - $5 is cheap to decide whether or not you should spend real money on things.
