Another 742M Wheel Post
Hello! First post in this section. Swapped out my 20” 740M Orbit for 22” 742M. I definitely will run spacers 15/20mm.

Looks nice but beware
I have these wheels, and had front right and rear left sidewall damage from bump on concrete freeway in Michigan and Illinois. Had to replace tires. Then I took a trip from IL to VA, and in Appalachian mountains at 11:50pm a rock damaged the side of new front tire with no cellular reception and a trailer hooked at the back. I put on the space saver with assistance of some lonely bears in the woods... Was a fun night. Had to stay over 2 days in hotel in Lynchburg, eventually getting a used tire 70 miles away at 50MPH with space saver. BMW dont keep these in stock, neither does any of the over 85 places I phoned in 2 days with my secretary.
So if you are into making 85 phone calls, being stranded go for it. Just call around and say you want a 275/35/22 tire today and see how far you get. I phoned Continental and Pirelli factory directly. This is their response: "We dont know how much stock our distributors have" So they cant help you either. These are stupid tires that nobody else use in the US. So beware the risk you are taking here. I have 60k miles on my car. |
