the default was too sensitive for my liking. I actually changed it to the least sensitive setting now

Has anyone been able to code a Rolls Royce chime in their G05? I know it’s not offered as part of basic mode in BimmerCode but I found the following expert mode coding from an X3 G01 forum. Will it work on G05?

For the chimes:
HEADUNIT
-----3002 AUDIO_TUNER_TRAFFIC
----------SOUND_SIGNAL_SET
---------------ROLLS_ROYCE

For the ringtone:
HEADUNIT
-----3003 TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE
----------RINGTONE
---------------RR

You mean added to the basic mode with latest data update inside the app? I see that BimmerCode indeed lists warning chime coding for G01 and F15 but not G05

Warning chime
The warning chime that sounds when a warning is displayed in the car.

Values:
BMW i warning chime
BMW warning chime
Mini warning chime
Rolls Royce warning chime

Unfortunately, no luck. I did find 3002 AUDIO_TUNER_TRAFFIC and 3003 TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE items under the headunit module although with slightly different names in the expert mode. I could not find neither SOUND_SIGNAL_SET nor RINGTONE subitems though. Search didn’t reveal anything either. I know that BimmerCode doesn’t support all the available coding options even in expert mode so the warning chime needs to be coded using some other software. But I am sure it can be coded for G05 as someone I know had it done by an expert coder but he has no idea how he did it.

Follow the following thread in the coding sub-forum where I will try to get to the bottom of how to code warning chime sounds:

This is what BimmerCode support told me about why the app doesn’t support warning chime coding for G05:

“It does not work for cars with MGU headunit and RAM.”

By “does not work” they elaborated that they tried to code the warning chime which indeed changed some sounds but some, like the PDC ones, stopped working altogether. So, anyone knows how G01 (which BummerCode seems to support warning chime coding for) is different from G05 in relation to having MGU headunit and RAM?

Found an answer: G01 has NBT Evo (iDrive 6) head unit - quite surprising as I was sure all G series models had an MGU head unit (iDrive 7) but it turns out that quite a few don’t.

Does anyone know how to disable Easy Access for Steering wheel (steering wheel self-adjusting when starting the engine)? I disabled it on F15 but it seems to be a different code for G05.

I agree with the HK sounding more improved after these changes.
In what display & menu did you notice the background image change?

Question of coding, I had anti-dazzle coded by RG Sport and when it was completed, it had reset all previous coding I had done using my Bimmercode. MY question is, if is code again with my Bimmercode will it clear out the anti-dazzle??

Video in motion

Does anyone know what might have gone wrong? I think I followed the steps correctly but it didn’t work. I thought it didn’t get coded in so I was going to try again. But it shows “Active”. Any idea? I’m using wireless CX adapter. No error was noticed during the process. I haven’t coded anything else. Thanks.

Coding via Bimmercode does not reset other things...it essentially takes a snapshot of what's there, applies any changes you make, and writes that back to the module.

There are some functions that the program cannot toggle back and forth, so you need to retain the backup (and maybe rename it so you remember which one) so you can use the restore function if you want it back to default. THere is (or was) a difference in backup operation between iOS and ANdroid...Android only keeps the last backup...iOS, I've been told (but not looked for them) all backups. WIthout a key as to which one is which, not all that helpful, so maybe keep a log on what date you made the change.

There are hardware differences between the Euro and US laser headlight assemblies (and different ones yet for LHD and RHD and other markets elsewhere). The US FDA got involved with the lasers on vehicles and required a safety switch to disable the laser beam if the housing was damaged. Since the laser beams are not visible (but point backwards), if the housing was damaged, it is theoretically possible, but probably really hard to actually occur, that they could point out, and being invisible, could blind someone. The US laser headlight assembly has a yellow sidelight in it, and to limit the maximum lumens, they lowered the voltage, along with the DOT label. The voltage level bit MIGHT be programmable, but I've not heard of people achieving that change, so probably not.

Did you deactivate Speedlock after coding per the pop-up instructions in Bimmercode? Probably not.

Do this: hold control knob up and while holding press Media, then Home, then Media. Speedlock Mode menu should come up: select Deactivate Speedlock and go back.

Why does everyone want to disable ASS? My total engine time off during ASS is approaching 24 hours after a full year of driving. That has got to translate into some benefit.

Because not everyone has the same driving situation...and may find it irritating for the car to cut off every time they come to a stop.

Most of my daily driving is in an urban setting I'm driving on side streets as I navigate to get to main streets and secondary corridors...and there are stops signs, yield signs, and round-abouts.

If I have ASS activated, the engine shuts off when I come up to a stop or yield sign or round-about...when the engine cuts off...then has to immediately restart...that is annoying as h3ll...and sometime the shut off/start up in those situation causes me to miss a chance to jump into the round-about or pull out into the intersection.

I also hate it when I pull up to my mailbox and the car cuts off...and if I'm pulling into the garage. So yes...I gladly disabled it!
