Badging on MY22 X5 45e's
Hi all — my X5 is about to enter production and it looks like the badging has changed for MY22 to have "electrified" badging all over the place.
Does anyone have photos of what this looks like in real life? |

Did they change the roundel on the wheels too to have a bright blue border? Interesting badge on the front fender - it's unclear what that actually represents, hence your question I guess.

The fenders say "Electrified By i"
The hood emblem and the 4 wheel center caps have bright blue borders. These are not my photos, found them on FB last week. I can't seem to gain access to my account at the moment to get better quality pics so for now these will do. |

I wonder if we can opt not to have these blue details before taking delivery. |

not in the US. only EU-spec customers have the option to request 'no badges', but if they do opt for them, they'll get the new blue-trimmed ones. (they can't request the old plain ones.)

Yes. After discontinuing the i-line vehicles they now use this on their hybrid/ev products but advertise as i-drive but still call the trim E. I don't get it.

Canada here and you can definitely ask to remove your badging. I find it even looks better but that's personal.

Maybe they want free rolling adverts to the general public since their best i cars are now coming out. What better way to capture mind-share for BMW i without more actual i cars on the road.

I had a 40e before and it had edrive badges in the back and rear pillar. The dealer wouldn't take them off because they said they couldn't.
Something with showing the firemen that it is an electric vehicle in case of an accident. The charge door in front might be a better clue for this? I was glad the 45e didn't have them. It had a M badge on the side on delivery but I ordered it without. Didn't like it there. |

They are really sticking it to 2022+ model year owners. I barely managed to get all the features I wanted for 2021 before the parts shortage started having packages go missing. 2022 made that official and then added these badges to add insult to injury.
