Level 2 EVSEs in the USA have a tethered J1772 plug on them that all you have to do it just plug into the vehicle's port. If it requires you to pay, you may need their app or whatever is required to enable it, but other than that, it's just plug it in, and it works...no power adapter is required. Now, if you happen to find a Tesla destination charger, their plug is different, so if you wanted to use that, you'd have to buy a Tesla to J1772 adapter plug...you'd plug that into theirs, wait for it to self-configure, then plug it into your vehicle. You CANNOT use a Tesla Supercharger with the X5...it does NOT support DC fast charging, which their Supercharger network is, even though the plug is the same...DO NOT try to use an adapter to plug it into your X5!
If you are going to buy a new, higher capacity EVSE, you can buy them either as a plug-in device, or one with just a pigtail that you'd have to hardwire into the power source. This isn't something you'd do with a public charger. In your home, depending on the size of the power circuit you wire, you'd choose the proper socket, then, if you want a plug-in EVSE, choose one with the same as the power source you had wired...here, as I said, I prefer to hard-wire the EVSE into power versus a plug, but your needs may differ. A hard-wired version might be less expensive to buy as well versus one with a factory plug on it. |

Just FYI they come as standard with the 50e in Germany. But then Europe is also running 230V as standard so 16A breakers would already get you 3.7kW.

Can you tell me if your cluster goes to 60 or only 40 like the 45e when in electric mode ?
I noticed my X3 30e would be at 40 in hybrid and 60 in electric and our new X5 45e only 30-40. I guess maybe because the X5 is 1300lbs heavier ?

Thanks for the info. Is there coasting in electric or hybrid mode, or it decelerates if you release the gas pedal? (It is so crucial to me that I will decide upon this whether ordering the 50e or change to another brand - as other competitors have it - nevertheless I like my 45e otherwise. I also have mineral white paint and the same colour leather interior you have

The OP's picture of their EVSE shows it to be capable of both L1 and L2, with support up to 9.6kW (240V@40A). It seems that BMW is providing a capable EVSE. If BMW are only providing a 120V plug adapter, then OP only needs to obtain an appropriate plug adapter for their situation to take advantage of significantly higher speeds.

https://www.shopbmwusa.com/product/1...E-FAST-CHARGER Excellent value for those who have Level 2 240V outlet already, and goes all the way to 40Amps (very competitive compared to 48Amps charger that Tesla sells for almost ~$700). |

Total hp is about 489, I think electric only is about 194 hp. While driving electric only that will be the acceleration unless you push down on accelerator which will activate ICE and the car takes off.

One review after initial driving of a 50e. My other vehicle is a 2021 X7. It has the integral adaptive steering. I have really noticed a difference in the turning radius of the 50e (lot more) compared to the X7 with ias even though the latter is a significantly bigger vehicle. I wish they had that option available. I'm assuming again it was a supply issue. TurtleBoy

It's definitely a game changer, my 2023 (Canada) has rear wheel steering and it turns as tight if not more than the X3 I had before.
