catted or catless downpipe

Anyone have suggestions on doing catted downpipes vs catless - I was told on this forum there are some issues doing catless with o2 sensors etc and obvious emissions.

Catless for faster and louder spool. You'll get a check engine light, but I just delete it using the JB4.

Please educate me:

What is the benefit of just installing the downpipe?

I'd I do it, it will be the catted downpipe as I don't want CEL and don't have JB4 to adjust and don't want to anyways.

Thanks

Reduce back pressure, faster spool, turbo is more efficient since it's working easier, and I believe it's a 20-30 HP increase. It will also make the turbo spool louder and deeper stock exhaust.

My set up with a full exhaust sounds very aggressive. I usually tone it down (close a valve) when my wife is with the kids.

im assuming this is catless you are referring to ?

But aren't the emissions crazy coming out of the exhaust ? I have a 70 challenger that is catless and its way too much exhaust fume for a modern car if I were to have this on a 2022 x5

Also I heard the other cat has too much load on it and will fail ???

If you do catted instead wouldn't the sound still be louder? What would this sound like ?
What would happen to HP and torque?

I'm also looking for answers to the same questions.

Hoping a knowledgeable member responds soon.

Speaking on catless DP

Will it pass emissions? No

Will it perform better than catted? Yes

Will it stress cat behind it? Yes

Yes the exhaust fumes smell like rotten egg. Don't remote start in an enclosed home garage.

Exhaust note with deepen with catless. I can't speak on catted. My X5 also has the M performance exhaust. I can tell you that when my wife is down the block, I can hear it spooling and that exhaust tone is distinctive.

I ran catless downpipes on my 335 (n54 motor tuned with 2 downpipes) for 3 years with zero problems.

Catted. You are driving a luxury highway cruiser, not a rice rocket.

I'm running a high flow catted down pipe and it sounds and performs great. No CEL and no exhaust fumes. I always think that the differences between catless and high flow catted are so minimal when all the rest are stock. I'm actually selling mine if you're interested because I'm trading in my car. Active autowerke with 4-6k miles.

Very cool! I have the Active autowerke catted hi flow downpipes waiting to be installed right now! How did you tune yours? How many hours was the install for them?

I'm just running racechip on it. I installed it by my self and if I remember correctly it took me 2-3 hours but most likely the shop might swap it faster! I was taking my time and be extra careful 😊

It's easy if you have the tools, I have the racechip for almost a year now. It adds some power not sure how much but the car works better on mid to high rpms.
It's not the same as a flash tune but with our dme's you have to sacrifice and risk couple things if you want to get it flash tuned. I have an cold air intake that's coming on my way plus charge and intake pipe.
