Wanted to see if anyone might know what the issues is with my Ambient Lighting.

Yesterday it started flashing. It does this in park and while driving. When I go to change the color to see if it does this with certain colors I noticed that it doesn't matter does it with all colors. Additionally if I select the 2 colors ( blue / White or any 2 color option) it wont show the 2 colors. It will change the color but only show 1 color not 2.

Let me know if anyone has a remedy or if I need to bring it to the dealer. Any help or insights is appreciated.

If you have not done any coding yourself I would say a visit to the dealer to resolve.

No coding done at all. Appointment set for next week with the dealer.

I was told by others that the ambient lights will flash when calls come in on apple carplay? and it might be a glitch of some sort where its stuck. I will try rebooting the system ( hold the power button on the radio for 20 seconds and its supposed to reboot ) Also I was told to have someone call me on my phone when im driving and it could resolve also.

Hopefully one of those things works when I leave today from work and I don't have to take the car to the dealer.

I believe they also flash to indicate there is an update available…?

The ambient lights in the door handles will flash red (warning to passing vehicles) when the engine is running and a door is open. Also as above, the dashboard ambient lighting (whatever color was chosen) will flash when a phone call is received on any mobile phone.

Really, I never noticed this.

This happened to me last year in my wife’s X7. It was so random and a one time issue.

No matter what I did all her ambient lighting was flashing and I tried to fix it by turning off the ambient lighting and turning it back on. That didn’t fix the issue either. Changing to different colors didn’t work. I held down the volume button to reset the idrive and the issue went away.

Try to see if that works before going to the dealer.

Exactly the remedy, I did that yesterday when I left work and stopped after.

Yes, it's true. Of course, it's more noticeable in a darkened environment.
