MrItaly's F95 build

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Greetings all. I finally picked up my F95 at Spartanburg with a PDC delivery last Thursday. What a day! I even used my marriot status to get a free upgrade to the presidential suite. Great experience all around. Laura gave us one helluva hot lap in an M5, and the loaner X5M on the track in our hands was also a blast. They showcased my car at the entrance when it was time to pick them up. She looks great from the factory, but she's already at the expel installer for the next two weeks for PPF, ceramic on the wheels, tint, spacers and reflector deletes (Thanks, Ben). As soon as she comes out of the beauty shop , she's going to get her MSS urbans installed and dropped an inch and a quarter as well as Super Sprint 100 CPI stainless high flow cats. Will post an after Pic when done and a video of the exhaust startup. In the meantime, here's the starting point.....

So pretty. Tanzanite in the sun is hard to beat. Going to be a entirely different beast than your X3M.

Thank you. Towed a 28 foot TT home to Maryland from Atlanta after delivery and stealth hitch install. It towed quite nicely with power to spare. Can't wait to finish the mods and enjoy her unencumbered.

Yeah, I was on the fence initially as I really liked the Donnington on my F97, but I needed a change. The Tanzanite sounded really promising even if I never saw it in RL until I took delivery. And the photos I had seen up to then didn't do it justice. When dark, it seems a bit mundane, tbh, but light, artificial and natural, reveal a whole nother layer of complexity to this paint. Wife wasn't sold on the Silverstone either initially since we have a 2 year old. Once she saw it's actually light gray, not white, and we could condition it, she was sold. Very pleased with this combo.

Yes, between the RIS and towing, I still don't know exactly how she'll behave unleashed. Yes, they did give me an F95 comp for the PDS to play with, but they wouldn't let me turn off DSC nor take it out of comfort mode on the engine. It was still strong and fun, don't get me wrong, but if it's anything like my F97, that sport plus engine setting is a whole different league. I'll find out soon enough. Wish our DME weren't so locked down atm. My F97 had stage 2 mods with ethanol and was extremely quick. I'm hoping this F95 will reach the same levels with additional comfort and amenities.

Congratulations! Quick questions about the hitch. Did you have the pre-wire code 8SL in the build sheet? I thought it was gone in the MY21.

I saw in my buddies X3M Comp with MSS installed and its very different than my X5M. His car reminded me of a M3 and the X5M more like a M5 which makes sense. As long as you adjust the expectations to that you won't be disappointed for sure.

My "fun" setting
Engine - Sport+
Suspension - Sport
Steering - Comfort
Brakes - Sport
Trans - D3

The combo of engine and trans in Sport+ and D3/S3 really wakes the car up. I find the trans in D2 isn't aggressive enough but its fine for daily duty mode.

Great question. I fretted over the very same thing as the code was NOT in my build sheet, and someone sent me a copy of a BMW bulletin where they warned they were dropping the prewiring harness from X5s without the tow package. Sent a couple of emails to my sales guy who pulled up their internal build sheet and verified it was in there. He added that the bulletin didn't apply to Ms. So the prewiring was there. Stealth added the factory module into the towing prewire, installed the hitch, then called in a remote coder to activate the module. I have all the factory towing amenities now. It's awesome!

Baffles me why you can't get the OEM hitch in the US where its built but we can get it here in the UK. Putting the kids bikes on the back of the car has never been easier!

On a different note, a local speciality shop quoted a grand for the mss springs install, plus another hundred for a 4 wheel alignment and 630 for the downpipes install. I'm providing all the parts. For those that paid to have this done, does that sound about right of performed by a competent shop?

Labor is crazy crazy crazy high there.... Might be normal for the area but I had MSS, spacers, reflectors and downpipes installed for 900. Took them less than 8hrs to complete. Alignment was included with MSS install.

Where do you do the installation, BMW dealership or somewhere else?

How does it impact the warranty?

Installation can be done anywhere. I happen to choose a BMW certified 3rd party shop. Obviously doing it at the dealer would make issues less impactful since they would stand directly behind their work but certified shops can also do warranty repair sooo its mute.

As far as warranty, this can be very mixed. Depending on your local laws too. I would say I know nothing in Switzerland on laws so I couldn't help you. Here in the States I have no worry until I do a flash tune or mess with turbos. That has been my experience by the way.

I paid $450 for my MSS install. The process isn't any different than installing regular springs.

Theres also not much they need to remove to get to the bolts like some other cars for the install.

In the engine bay all they need to remove is the brace and you have full access to the strut bolts. In the trunk its even easier. You just lift the spare tire cover up and all of the rear strut bolts are right there.

I have a 2021 X5MC and it has code 8SL. I looked behind the right side cover in the rear cargo area and saw the connector to be used if a trailer hitch was offered in the US.
