I believe you have OPF and it is monitored.
So, you will get CEL.
Unless if you get a flash tune.

I've seen the 2 videos posted of the secondary cat delete. Are there any more videos/sound clips that anyone can share? I'm interested to hear what it sounds like after the car has reached operating temperature and how much louder than stock is the sound while cruising. I'm trying to determine if I will have to buy ear plugs for my wife or not.

You won't need earplug.
Car is well insulated and I would say about 20% volume increase.
Not as loud as if you do a cat-back exhaust system.

Just chiming in briefly on this as I will have a more detailed writeup shortly on everything done to my new MBB X5M.

If you have been on the fence about this....DO IT NOW. I wasn't sure what to expect, as the there is not a lot of video footage on it.

What I can tell you is that at least here, in -20C weather and colder, the cold start up sound on this vehicle is just what the (tooth) doctor ordered. On top of that, when it settles down 10-15 sec after start up...the sound is sublime. Don't notice a heck of a lot yet inside the vehicle, as I am not hitting the throttle hard because I only have 140km on it so far, but looking forward to hearing that after the initial 2000km service.

Lastly, and I will say most importantly...Ben is a stand up guy and a genuine pleasure to deal with. He is on point with responding to messages and sorted out a shipping snafu that was out of his direct control. Brilliant experience.

I will try to load a video when done work today as it is about -25C today.

A few questions on install for r33_RGSport
I went under the vehicle and hood this weekend to determine the level of involvement on this install. I enjoy DIY for these types of bolt-on installs but the space looks limited.
  • Since the secondary cat slips on to the midpipe does the midpipe/exhaust rear section have to be lowered or pulled back to get the secondary cat out?
  • The secondary cat bolts up to a bracket but it faces towards the rear of the car so removal of the belly pan looks like a must and access still looks tight. Any suggestions here?
  • From the top side, access is limited as the strut brace is in the way for access down to the V band that clamps the secondary cat to the primary.
  • The reverse torx screw that secures the V band clamp is very close to the firewall and doesn't look like you can get a socket with ratchet on it / nor have enough space to get turns on it.

Attaching a few photos for reference. Any help/guidance would be appreciated!

X5M/X6M have much more room that M5/M8. I can fit my whole elbow there on X5M/X6M.

- Exhaust need to be pushed back. If you still need more room, then bringing it down is the best way.
- As far as I remember, Belly pan doesn't need to be removed.
- I didn't remove the strut brace. But, I remove the bracket that is holding the wire bundle that goes across from passenger to driver side so I don't cut my arm in pieces.
- It is tight fitment. I uses 12points 10mm ratcheting wrench which fit perfect on that Torx head.

I believe you have OPF and it is monitored.
So, you will get CEL.
Unless if you get a flash tune.
Could you PM me about a flash tune, please? Just to see if there is an angle to get a bit more noise for us UK & Europe guys subject to over-bearing regulation!

I believe there is no FlashTune available for 2021 models yet.

So even with just a cat delete one would get CEL?

If you do full catless, yes.
Full catless is primary and secondary.
But, if you are only doing secondary, there won't be any CEL since secondary is not monitored for US and Canadian cars.

sorry, i know i'm being a british PITA ... but does that mean that OPF equals no secondary cat delete and no flash tune = no options?
