I did the install myself on the floor with car ramps with no help. Took me about 9 hours doing it by myself the first time (I am very cautious and patient). If I would have had a lift, it would have taken me 3 hours only needing help to pull the exhaust down. So, if you are in the US, they are charging you BMW M premium.

You don't need the sound kit. The muffler comes with one. The button simply connects to the device and operates wirelessly. The oem button controls it without problems (per the Akrapovic Us sales rep)

Ben's great but I'm guessing his arms won't reach from SoCal to MN to install anything, especially an exhaust.

RG Sport can sell & ship the Akra exhaust, but I'd absolutely shop out the installation to another shop. Sorry, that number is laughable: I'm guess the your local dealer can do it for less.

If MN doesn't collect sales tax for out-of-state purchases, like NY does, we have one more reason get it from RG Sport

If this isn't the case, his service is tremendous IMO and makes it also worth placing the order.

For the OP

What type of performance gains are you seeing? I'm less concerned about sound as I am speed. I assume the flow and weight savings should have positively affected performance. Akra states a fair HP and TQ gain but not sure what to make of it. I would also consider catless DPS. what's your thoughts on this exhaust other than sound?

I don’t think this is really a performance mod as much as it’s a sound mod. Do DPs and call it a day.

I installed the slip on system and was expecting it to sound very similar to stock but was surprised just how much better it sounded. The tone is perfect without being obnoxious. Has a nice exotic tone while under load IMO.

Thanks for the reply. So you don't have the mid pipe then? Don't get me wrong, I'm not in love with the stock sound, but I'm trying to make investments in added performance. At $9k, the akra system is expensive if no gains are felt. I assume it must be better flowing and a fair weight savings if you have the whole system? I was also considering the Meisterchaft GTC with DPs which the entire system is about equal to akra.

I'm on the fence about DPS though because I don't plan to tune. I'm OK with a CEL, and smell, but I don't want to spend on DPS and not get a good performance gain because I didn't tune. Any thoughts on this? I have a Racechip and I'm happy with it. I do want to maintain my warranty as best I can so no tune for the foreseeable future. I have heard some audio of the S63 with DPS and I like the sound. Keller titanium DPs would sound great I think!

Are you saying the secondary cat delete will sound louder or full catless DP? I do like the Akrapovic tips. Was the sound difference noticeable with just the slip on system? Planning to add the mid-section later?

I was just implying for pure performance gains doing the primary / secondary downpipes is the way to go. You aren’t going to gain much from an exhaust system since the factory one is already free flowing.

I have the slip on only and the sound difference from stock is pretty noticeable. Tone is better and more exotic sounding too. It’s not drastically louder since it’s just the slip on system but it’s enough for me. Cold start is the loudest I want to go with the current setup.

For those that have this system do you notice a rattle coming from the exhaust? I hear it during cold starts. Not so much when the car is moving. I can sort of hear it when I bang on the tips too. The tips are tight and cranked down like crazy. Need to get under there tomorrow to see what it could be

I have it. It just a small stone that trapped inside the gap from the exhaust pipe and carbon fiber tip

By far one of the best exhaust mods I have heard, let alone on a SUV. If I were in the market I would definitely get it. This thread is exhausting. Sorry couldn't help it😜

Was there a post of the slip-on exhaust only? I thought there was but cannot seem to find it. Also has anyone compared the slip-on vs catless secondary cat DPs.

Slip on plus mid pipes. It sounds sick and no video will do it justice. Anyone interested in it, should find someone to go hear in person. I had a keep set with the most aggressive borla and a z06 with a corsa, and I am very excited. It sounds exotic and you can see people thinking "wtf" when I drive and crank it.
