Gentian blue is odd. Porsches is a completely different shade. Wouldn’t have expected bmw to have their own version and be so different.

Also not a fan of powder blue on such a large vehicle.

I’m sure there’s a diff when side by side and in sunlight but that Lemans Blue sure seems to look like MBB. Either way great color. BMW has a strong blue and green color game!

Either vehicle is a star on its own because it’s an X5M. Thanks for sharing!

I agree. I was expecting to see, you know, what we all expect Gentian Blue to look like. It's a lot closer to a China Blue or something along those lines. Doesn't look great on the X5M... However, that Oxford Green is something else. That's a stunning color.

Paint correction is more important than ever since the switch to water based after the great recession and in the name of "green". It is so soft and thin compared to paint of yesteryear but to answer your initial question of how much correction does one need on a new BMW... a lot. Ever see how they wash these cars in their PDI/Prep Center? Brooms, rags that are used all over the car, rags that fall on the floor and immediately go back to the paint instead of being quarantined until washed. There are only a handful of dealerships I know that do a proper detail before delivery and that is because the prep center is either run by a person who is a professional detailer or they outsource to a local high end detailer. The ideal scenario is to take delivery with all the stickers and protective wrap still on it however if there is damage underneath you're on the hook not them so go over the vehicle obsessively before signing to see that there are no scratches to the wrap or dings, dents or anything in-between.

What do u mean goofy? It's an awd suv. People like me go offroad with it and need significant ground clearance. Couldnt do it if it was low. I have low passenger cars for street driving.

You can have ground clearance without excessive wheel gap.

I agree re blue shades I had an E30 in Seamist Green and LCI E30 in cirrus Blue much lighter in colour and better than the 2 options posted above in my opinion
