Bumped from week 51 to week 10

Anyone know why the 2024 X5 50e would have been bumped from production this week, all the way til week 10 (March 2024)?

My dealer said all of their X5 50e got bumped today as well. It is a REALLY big dealership too. I have had this allocation for months, but now this happened. Was expecting to take delivery first week of Jan.

The dealership said they called the factory but couldn't get an answer.

This appears to be happening with every X5 50e right now. It just happened today, so we don't have answers yet.

well, this is frightening. . . placed my order on 12/10, and my garage have moved from order placed, to scheduled for production, and back to order placed, and back to scheduled for production, and back to order placed.

Communications with the genius folks have given me info between a second week of january production date to a third week of january production date.

this concerns me.

staying tuned for hopefully more info. . .

There seems to be supply issues with some part/parts, either a shortage or found a problem with existing ones. That is why builds get pushed back.

That isn't good. I placed an order earlier this month with the help of a broker. Dealer told me that I have a Week 2 allocation. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Genius is telling me production starts week 10. Dealership is telling me week 1.

Yeah, as I have posted in my posts where I clearly demonstrate that I am really a terribly impatient child in the body of a late 40s year old guy. . .

Placed order on Sunday 12/10, and was immediately listed on "my bmw garage" as "scheduled for production."

First calls to genius resulted in them telling me "will be produced second week of January, actually built between January 8 and 12."

But then the "my bmw garage" production web page shows back to "order received."

Another phone call to genius resulted in, "may be a delay, but you are still scheduled for a build during the second week of January, beginning on January 7, but everything is subject to change, but that is the plan right now."

So, that is the information that I have gotten. Though the build page still just shows "order received."

I am trying to follow the sage advice of Turtleboy, who, in not so many words, reminded me of the old adage, "a watched pot never boils."

I am trying to be patient, which is completely against my nature. . . and hoping the vehicle gets built in January, and I get my hands on it in February.

Fingers crossed.

I was informed of the same news having placed an order in late November. Unfortunately being down one car and not sure that March will really happen I opted to place the same build but in the gas only version for a Jan build. I was looking forward to the whole “E” thing but not a deal breaker.

I can confirm the exact same for my 50e - placed in Nov, week 49 build. That moved to week 51, then 52, then week 2 and then they said week 10. It also moved back a step from 112 to Order Placed. I decided to move forward and bought an x7 that matched my needs as I simply couldn't wait until March/April and whether that would even be built by then given nobody had any info. That is the most infuriating - nobody could tell me what the issue was and whether this car would ever be built at this point.

Placed an order for my first BMW on 12/15 (Woohoo!). Got the production number for the 50e earlier this week and the Genius today stated that I'm scheduled for production on Feb 8th (Week 6?).

50e - Tanzanite Blue with Premium/DAP/MSport&Pro/Parking/Climate.

maybe you dodged a bullet? I was also wk49 build, which actually did get built and delivered. I got it this past Saturday only to get CEL on Tuesday night. Nothing found but worrying signs. Maybe it's supply issues related delay, or maybe BMW is getting their act together to solve for 50e issues.

I had a week 49 build for the 50e as well. It was built on 12/9, dispatched from factory 12/12 but it is still listed as “in transit”. I kind of thought that it would have arrived at dealership in Utah by now. I wonder if it is being held up by some kind of “hold”.

Welcome to the forum. No, stop sales are handled by the dealer. Vehicles are delivered and then held at the dealer. Have you called Genius to see if you can get a location? Utah may go by train so in that case it will take about three weeks or so. If it is by train they should be able to give you the last stop.

Thanks for the info. I haven’t called Genius yet. That was going to be my next step. I guess I got a little excited when I saw others from the week 49 build get their vehicles already and it looked like they were in Arizona.

Just to echo the same as what yall are saying. Our 50e was supposed to be built last week, got a call from the dealer saying it was pushed to week 2. Got a call today saying they just got word from their regional manager saying all their 50e allocations we pushed to week 10. They didn’t know why.

Yes, Arizona goes by truck so only takes about three days. I don't know about Utah as you would think it would be the same as Arizona and Colorado but maybe, like Nevada, they are shipped by train to California and then a truck back East to the dealer. Your timing would lead to that being the case.

Called genius and got the bad news myself today. Build week moved back to week 11. No info as to why. Week 11 is evidently March 11, 2024.

Kinda sucks that dealer will be holding deposit for 4 months with nothing to show for it.

Order placed 12/10
Went to "scheduled for production" same day, with a scheduled build week if week 2.
Now week 11, genius said the move to 11 occurred 12/18.

Sad.

Registered to see if anyone else was getting better info on this. I am going through the same issue as other posters - ordered back in November with the understanding of a December allocation. Genius and the dealer have no info to share.

I understand production delays can occur but going from 4-5 weeks to 4 months is not really what we signed up for. Have to decide if we're going to wait it out or move on. Dealer was considering compensation for the wait but hasn't offered an amount.

Sorry to hear you were pushed back. As far as your deposit goes, I would ask your dealer to give it back. Since non-refundable deposits are illegal in CA most dealers don't take a deposit. Just tell them you want to stick to your deal but would like th deposit back, can't hurt to try.

Maybe they finally found a fix to the battery issues with the 50e and are having to order new parts from Germany.

Are there any more updates about the production delays ? I had my dealer contact me also to say there will be delays on the 50e but they don't why.

Is it only the 50e model ?
