24' LCI - Missing emergency kit ?

Took delivery of my 24' LCI X5M last week and just noticed the following and was wondering if anyone with a 24 LCI could just double check and see if they have the same thing. This is what I get when I open the emergency kit little cubby on the left side of the trunk. Is this normal?

It is only for European market, or maybe a few other continents. US car doesn't come with first aid kit,

Thanks for the reply and yes I should have checked/searched a little before. That big empty hole just seemed a bit out of place I guess. My SA also confirmed that it is no longer a standard item for US cars. Strange since I don't really see why.

Cost cutting. Easiest thing to just omit.

I think it has never been a standard for US, at least starting in e46 time (1999). European delivery will get that first aid kit put in tho.

It's legally required in Europe. Don't know why, I have never used this crappy kit with a few band aids in all my driving career.

The older first aid kit in European BWM was much bigger. They put a draw kind of thing under front seat. Maybe 3"/7.6cm thick, easily 1/2 way inside under seat cushion. I think the content was not bad at all. I haven't seen the modern one.

I believe the red warning triangles are also required in Europe. I don't think US vehicles ever got those.

Yes, EU BMW has both warming triangle and first aid kit. I think US Audi has warming triangle too. BMW never brings that into US market.

If you did a euro delivery - any brand or model- the first aid, warning triangle and vest were in the trunk (EU law). At drop off - before shipment back to the US, you needed to remove that equipment and carry it home on the flight, otherwise it was removed at port. Crappy, I know. But it was the way it is. EU requirement to have it inside alll cars - port shippers removed it to save the car makers a few Euros. They are nice kits, and fit inside the trunks well (I was lucky to do both BMW and Audi pickups)

If you ever get a rental car in Europe, one could always ‘borrow’ a kit (so I’ve heard)…

Ahaha thank for the detailed info. Actually heading to Germany this summer and renting a BMW, so I might have to borrow it too

Jokes aside not that I need it, hopefully, just never realized that and was mostly wondering about the empty slot.

There are many to choose from on Amazon that fit easily. The only time I've used it, thankfully, was when we were out of band-aids in the house.

If you really want the 1st aid kit and/or the triangle…you can order one from your local BMW dealership’s parts department…or use the 11 digit BMW part number and find a vendor that sells it online (google it).

(#1) 71 60 6 770 487
Warning triangle with container
Extra info : ECE R27
Qty : 1
(#3) 51 47 7 229 149
First aid kit pouch
Qty : 1

Or, you can buy the emergency kit which looks like it contains a safety vest, warning triangle, and a first aid kit:

(#1) 82 26 2 210 667
Emergency bag
Qty : 1
