Not my style either (don't like spending too much on everyday wear), but maybe they're dressing for the position they want.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging. I work in a high rise with lots of offices and I probably look like an office assistant or postmates guy making a food delivery. The guards know my by now but when I first started they all assumed I was a guest and asked me to sign in, who am I visiting etc.

I heard a similar story like this. A Doctor friend I knew just seemed poor for some reason and it just did not add up. Later I found out she was supporting her ex-husband with alimony and child support and that is why she had no money.

When I was told this story My friend took a look at me and asked what was wrong.... And I told her, please just give me a few minutes to take this in and enjoy this moment.

So let me see if I understand you. You feel sympathy for a guy having to pay but take pleasure in a woman having to pay regardless of the circumstances but purely based on gender. That’s nice.

Isn't that what women do when they 'win' in family court (which women win 90% of the time)?

The single most common cause of divorce is marriage.

You are the one that singled out women saying the high earners are all materialistic, nobody was talking about men. I wouldn't consider men or women's income to affect their materialism around me. I know a lot of high earners that are both men and women that are most definitely not materialistic.

Good try of twisting what I said though.

Also let me grab a dictionary for you.

Materialistic - Adj - excessively concerned with material possessions; money-oriented.

There is a big difference between liking nice things and being materialistic.

I disagree. May be true for you, which is why I am glad I don't live where you do.

Well what happened to you, as a female, up until about 10 years ago was extremely rare. Like unicorn sighting rare.

One thing that I see more frequently (I often have to review divorce decrees) is husbands winning full custody of the kids. I see that, by a wide margin, more often than wife having to pay alimony.

This was about 13 years ago. No kids. We both went in to the marriage poor and young.

I have no problem with custody going to the fathers if that is in the best interest of the child(ren). I do have a problem with women or men sucking their spouse dry in alimony just because they are angry.

It has been going on for ages. Watch him for "live in" girlfriend where in order to keep the checks coming he'll never re-marry but will co-habitat or have a quasi-residential/mailing address other than where he lives. IIRC it's fairly common with retirees in Florida.

He died about 5 years ago. I chose to make a deal and give him a one time payment in lieu of lifetime payments so he didn’t have his hand in my pocket for the rest of his/my life. I feared that if my situation got better or his worse he would come back to renegotiate payments. Also so I was done with him. He lived for 7 or so years after the settlement. My lawyer was against it but I was glad to cut the ties.

Was it one of those single use ones?? Just because she can't take it off, doesn't mean you're still married!

Seriously though, something like that is all my lady would get, if she had the slightest inclination to marry me... Maybe a ringpull, or a party ring, even.
