Canadian Whiskey is my preference any day. It is absolutely smoother than American. Some prefer the bite of American whiskey and that's cool. I went through my days of Weller and Jack back in the say. But I seek out either very Smooth and even sweet these days. But I've been drinking for over 30 years too.
If you want a real pleasant whiskey try Collingwood. It is REALLY good.

Santa was good this year and brought this bottle. Its a beautiful bottle, sandblasted and crazy bell cover.

Anyone ever try Clase Azul Durango?

I like mezcal but have never had anything like this. I'll start off neat and see how it goes it just seems too good to mix...

That is cool and I would definitely savor this neat. The only thing I might possibly mix with it is a little Arrogante if you’re having this after dinner:

Local packie was out of P12 tonight, so I opted for some Jameson Stout.

Damn. The stores I go to don't have that much selection, and only slightly larger quantities

I'm surprised anyone else heard of Collingwood, I just bought a bottle a few weeks ago, nice smooth taste. They have it in the US?

We've got Collingwood in Australia (the Maple stave version anyway) so I'm sure it's available in the US. Collingwood Maple, Wiser's, Pike's Creek, Crown Royal and Canadian Club. Condidering how insanely popular Canadian Club is here, I'm surprised that more brands aren't being imported.

The 12 aged CC I find to be better than the original and only literally a few dollars more. You can sip it and taste the slight vanilla and fruit profile. Wisers was our go to whiskey when we were younger as it hides the alcohol taste well.

I’m not much good at describing FP’s but imagine that you’re sipping patron in a mild sweet form. It’s ok solo, but I’m not a liqueur sipper. When mixed in small quantity with another agave based distill it adds depth, mildness, and without killing the smoke of a mezcal. I only discovered it because Total Wine was having their Saturday tasting.

“BEVERAGE TESTING INSTITUTE
Mexico - Arrogante Damiana Liqueur won a Gold Medal and received 93 points rating. Pale slivery straw color. Bright, exotic, spicy herbal aromas of peppered lime, grassy herbs, vibrant, off-dry light -to-medium body and a tingling, elegant, mint- lilac syrup finish.”

A top customer review:” I have enjoyed this liqueur and was very impressed by its complexity of flavors. The taste of this tequila-based liqueur is original and deeply satisfying. The gentle citrus-like sweetness of Arrogante Damiana is well balanced with fresh herbal notes of damiana and mint. Using it in Margarita cocktail instead of triple sec results in authentic, delicious cocktail. I also recommend it for sipping neat poured over the large chunk of ice.”

Interesting liqueur, might grab a bottle.
Thanks!
