2021 M50i ECU flash.

Any one have an idea when Carbahn or the like will have the ability to provide a flash tune for the 2021 M50i?

Bootmod3 should come out with something soon, they're usually first since they're the leaders of the BMW Fxx/Gxx Tuning Platform around the world.

That is my understanding of them. Hopefully something soon. I guess some one here in the business of selling/installing these products here will let us know when something for the '21 is available. I am ready.

I thought 2021's for this engine the ecu actually had to be removed and shipped to tuner like the old days?

I have not heard that even a bench tune like you describe is possible at this point. Something about the '21 ECUs needing to be "unlocked". This stuff is way above my head but it seems as if the guys who hack the manufacturers road blocks to ECU reprograming always get the job done. Hopefully this happens soon.
I am chomping at the bit for a 150 square power boost on an M50i, that would be nuts as the vehicle is already very strong.

ECU will definitely have to be removed. Even true for 19-20 after any software update. The last software version that allowed OBD tuning was 07/19. Subsequent software updates require another bench unlock every time.

I gave up with my 19 330iX, sold the BM3 and bought a Turbo Transformer piggyback. When I sold the 330 and got the X5, the TT went straight on.

1st I have ever heard of a Turbo Transformer. Are you happy with it? Is it comparable to the Race Chip?

Race Chip, JB+, Dinan and TT all do the same thing, add boost. TT is way cheaper and has Bluetooth connection and app standard to make adjustments.

I am certainly going to check that out. Getting tired of waiting for Carbahn etc. to come up with a flash for the '21 M50i.

The piggybacks take 10 minutes to install. I figured for the price I had nothing to lose. It works fine. There is a clear performance boost. Is it as good as the BM3 tune I had? No. I especially miss the pops and burbles in Sport+. BMW has always been at war with the tuners, and they have decisively won the latest battle.

4 lbs of boost can be added with the Turbo Transformer?

Yes, but 3 psi is the safe target for 93 octane.

That should definitely be a noticeable difference.

2 psi for 91. At the price, still worth it.

Doesn't jb4 increase boost, throttle response and timing. I had one on my 13 and I remember it did for that car what I felt dinan did for my M5 and M550. I could be wrong, just rambling on. I just remember jb4 was very good
