Anyone else considering a G37 Coupe as their next car?

Infiniti is certainly bringing it to BMW.

Anyone G37 owners wanna share their experience? If anyone has a G37, please give us a review of how it compares to your BMW.

I'm thinking of a G37x coupe

Would you take the new G37 over a 328 or a 335?

I saw a black G37s the other day and I have to say it looked really good. I wouldnt take it over my car or an e92 but it looked really good nonetheless.

Yes, I'm thinking of going back to a Japanese car, (G37s, STi or EVO) after my 328 lease is up.

I wanted to try out the E90 since I've wanted a BMW for a long time. I'm not sure I will stick with BMW though.

why should I get a G37? It's just another Japanese-made car.

Let's say, 10 years from today, I'm sure that G37 would look ugly. A 10 year old E90 would still look good.

I'm in the same boat... G37s is $10-12k less than a 335i in Canada and I really dislike the interior of the 3 series. I test drove one and I have to say it is 95% of the performance of the 335i. Almost as fast (less torque down low but close enough for me), a little heavier but it felt just as well planted through the corners at high speed, soaked up bumps really well with it's 19" rims and sport suspension, great MT, amazing interior and seats, tons of cool features, and some of the best reliability records in the entry luxury class. If the price were close (say $4k difference or less) then I would likely go from the 328i to the 335i. With the price difference as it is, I'm not sure at this point.

Unlike chazz, I think the G37s is a really nice looking car with very classic lines and the best factory 19" rims out there. And although there seems to be an anti-japanese car sentiment here, I like the idea of not listening to the creaks and rattles and not spending a lot of time in the shop. While my 328i has been reliable (no fuel pump!!) it hasn't been rattle free for sure... I actually took the rear apart to fix the rear parcel shelf creak!

It's a tough call but paying $12k for 5% or so better overall performance and the right to say I drive a BMW is tough to swallow. Damn! I wish BMW would make their interiors better (a.k.a Audi or the G37s which has an amazing interior as far as I'm concerned) and bring the price down a few thousand!

HotIce, I hate to say it but I don't see how I will be able to avoid going G37s next spring?!? I'll probably get flamed by the fanboys on that but it's my opinion. And don't get me wrong, I am a BIG fan of BMW and have enjoyed my 328i. The G37s is just so much for fun than a 328i and very, very close to the 335i coupe with a better interior and much lower price when similarly equiped ($49,950 versus $62,000 similarly equiped in Canada). I wish it weren't so but it is...

I would take a G37 over a 328 for sure. That is a huge jump in horsepower. You would probably be paying the same price as well. Just ignore the tools that think anything Japanese sucks.

The Japanese make some of the best engineered cars out there. If infiniti keeps upping the anti with the G37 and keeps improving it, I may consider it in the future. It's a great value for what you get.

Not to mention Infiniti makes some SOLID cars.

The quality and fit and finish is in a different league than that of BMW's.

By fit and finish I meant after 30,000 miles not a single rattle in my brother's FX35.

yeah, I can see that. My car has a couple of annoying rattles. bmw never finds them.

I agree with your comment for a G35. The G37 is, IMO, better than the BMW relative to interior materials.

Have you driven one? The exhaust is amazing and the engine is almost as smooth and quiet as the 335i. And for luxury, BMW has lost ground relative to the new G37s. The interior of the G37s has EVERY feature imaginable and leather isn't an upgrade

Don't kid yourself, I didn't want to believe it either and hoped that when I drove it I would be disappointed and just buy the 335i. Unfortunately, it was the exact opposite, I was REALLY surprised how nice it was from a luxury perspective.

It was an easy decision to choose my 335i coupe.
The G37S interior has a tacky disconnect that I did not find in the e92.
The power band is somehow similar, yet different.
I come from Audi S4 twin turbos.
German feels right to me.

It's a nice car. But it doesn't have the pedigree of a BMW. I have not driven the new model, but I drove my friends 05 G35 coupe and was not impressed. It wasn't as quick as I had expected, and had a very chunky feel to it.

Some people have mentioned they do not like the BMW interior. It is subjective like most things. Everything in the 3'er is well placed and ergonomic. German car interiors are almost always austere. The materials are nice to the touch, especially with premium. Things in the G seem out of place, and the materials are plasticy from my experience. I kinda felt like I was driving a rebadged nissan..
