X5 Hybrid delivery time

Hey Guys,

We just purchased 2 weeks ago the new X5 Hybrid. The dealer doesn't know yet when it will be in production.

Is there anything that I can do to find it out?

There are many threads on this.

Start by getting the production number from the dealer - they should have an estimated date and you can track status online.

Get the production number and then call the BMW genius hotline at 1 (844) 443-6487. Also, you can use the production number on the myBMW website to track your new ride.

It sounds like the dealer is trying to get an allocation. If you placed an order and the dealer doesn't have an X5 allocation, they can try to trade allocations of other models with other dealers. Before you placed your order, you should have asked what week (1-52) the dealer has an allocation for. If they had an allocation, they would have been able to give you the production week when you were placing the order.

In my case my dealer says that allocation jumped from March 16 to April 16 then to June and back to April. Due to the unavailability of the HK system and air suspension (mine is the 4.0 model). All this time my status has shown as order received. (A little over two weeks now)

Order Track

Ordered mine Jan 29. 8-12 weeks was the est. Once you have a tracking number you can get online and track. They will issue the VIN # at the beginning of production.
Fair warning: the BMW site is "jumpy" on the production stages, and not always accurate. Most accurate estimates can be given by calling the BMW Genius hotline. For example my x5 45e stayed on the produciton beginning spot forever. Then i called the Genius line and they said it would be done tomorrow. Right after that the site jumped forward quickly over two days till it was shipped.

Here is a rundown on what my timeline has been:

X5 45e Saphire Black, Cognac, Msport, shadowline trim,

Order received 1/29/21
Production begins 2/8/21
Exterior body assembly begins 2/19/21
In the paint booth 2/19/21
Entering assembly line 2/19/21
Assembly in progress 2/20/20
Quality check 2/20/20
Final assembly 2/20/20
Ready for transport 2/20/20
Awaiting carrier assignment 2/20/20
Dispatched from factory 2/21/21
In transit 2/28/21
(Expected in Renton WA rail yards on): 3/15/21
At the dealership ?
Vehicle delivered ?

Frustrating the car was built in like 3 days, but takes forever to get shipped to the dealership.

Hope this helps

45e allocations are hard to come by. So if they didn't give you a production number, you don't have an allocation slot. New allocations should be out sometime this week or next, so they may be hoping to get at least one for you.

Indeed, I'm also in CA and did not get a production number until about a month after 'ordering'
