Upgrading to 2021 X5 M50i
Two weeks ago at our M440 delivery, our sales person talked me into trading in my '19 X5 5.0 M-Sport to order a '21 M50i. My 2019 is missing some features that I regretted not getting, and they also came out with the M50 just after I took delivery.
Additionally, Portimao Blue on our M440 makes my Phytonic look like an old pair of jeans... so it makes sense. They needed the used inventory so they offered a deal I couldn't pass up, so a week ago I ordered this: 2021 X5 M50i Mineral White Tartufo Extended Marino Carbon Fiber Trim Red Calipers 22" 742M Executive Package Dynamic Handling Package Parking Assistance Package Bowers & Wilkins Shadowline Front & Rear Heated seats Heat Armrests and Steering Wheel Leather Dashboard Trailer Hitch I left off the Driving Assistance Professional Package, Massage seats, and the Alcantara Headliner. I don't really drive too many miles, but I hope that wasn't a mistake. The new car has been in the Production Begins status all week. It's supposed to be finished with production by April 6, which was much faster than I anticipated! Those with the Dynamic Handling Package - is that a worthwhile upgrade? |

I'm a fan of DHP and have always gone for it when I can. I feel the upgrade is worth it. makes the car feel firm and planted

I would get the DA package, really takes the stress out of driving, and makes the car safer overall

My justification for not adding it was that the majority of the miles we put on the cars is for fun... like going for a drive or weekend getaways. I avoid rush-hour traffic. Overall, I love the experience of driving and was focused on features that added driving dynamics. Perhaps I should have just added it and kept the system turned off. |

I took delivery Tuesday! Here's my impression after the first couple days.
I absolutely love how it build turned out. The combination of the Tartufo, Carbon Fiber, and Crystal elements looks incredible together. I honestly wasn't sure there was going to be that big of a difference between my previous 50i and the M50i. I was wrong. They drive like different vehicles. The DHP was a worthy upgrade, the suspension is firm but compliant. It handles the corners like a car. The tighter turning radius of the Integral Active Steering was needed; however, I wasn't expecting how amazing the "crab walk" would be at interstate speed. The vehicle glides between lanes. The The 22" rims don't have a negative impact on ride quality and make the vehicle appear larger. The Bowers & Wilkins adds an incredible dimension to the sound. The Merino seats are extremely comfortable. I couldn't be happier with my decision. Last edited by AdamJ80; 04-08-2021 at 09:57 AM.. |

Congrats!! Post some pics when you get a chance. Great config combo. It often doesn't take much for us on the forum to receive "a deal I couldn't pass up", at least that's what I tell the wife.

I just updated the post with pics! Thank you. LOL... I agree that it definitely doesn't take much to justify "a good deal."

I changed the Engine Sound setting to always "Aggressive" and the loud pop noise during morning start gives me goose bumps every morning. Lol |

I have mine on the Aggressive setting as well! I couldn't agree more - the cold start definitely sparks joy.

If you want to see the Bowers & Wilkins capability... Set the system to on-stage with 3D cranked up, then play a movie. I sampled Blade Runner 2049, but any movie with a Hans Zimmer score should be equally incredible.
