Low Oil Alert

I just had an oil change last week. This morning I was alerted to low oil. Call my SA and he had a shop foreman investigate. They drained the system and it had the proper amount of oil. They refilled it, recalibrated the measurement system, and took it for a test drive. They're calling it a software issue. If it happens again it could be the sensor. We'll see. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this. I have a 40i.

I wouldn't take a chance. Stop there and let them check.

There's a crush washer they replace on the oil drain plug and maybe they screwed up and it's leaking.

Dear BMW, can we get our dip stick back, please?

Oops. Sorry I wasn't clear. I took it in. They did a full check and found it had the proper amount of oil. They put new oil in and we're going to see. It's not leaking or burning oil. So they think software.

Gotcha. Which software version is on your car? Check-in iDrive. This doesn't tell which istep level, but gives an idea.

Could be a bad sensor as well.
