That price still seems high based on what others have mentioned in this post but at least it's reasonable and I can math it out.

I'm told an experienced tech should be able to complete the job in 4-6 hours so at a rate of $200/hr, that would put labor around $800-$1200. Add on $200 for alignment and maybe ~$300 to replace all necessary one-time-use bolts/nuts and it's right around what you paid.

The $3K quote I got just feels wildly off and it doesn't sound like anyone has paid anywhere close to that so that's why I'd like to find a different shop in my area.

For anyone wondering, I ended up getting my work done at Martin Motorsport in Alexandria and it ran me ~$1,500 for install of the MSS Springs and the non-M control arms.

8 hours to do the Springs
2.5 hours for the control arms (when also doing springs)

The cost for just the springs was comparable to a few of the other shops I had reached out to in the area (~$1,200) and MUCH cheaper than the garbage quote I got from RRT ($2K for just springs, $3K to add control arms).

The only downside is they don't perform on-site alignments at the shop so you'll need to get your own alignment done after you pick it up.

I've only driven it home so far (about 30 miles) but happy to report everything seems fine so far and I'm not getting any strange pops or noises as of yet (knock on wood). I plan to have an alignment done tomorrow so hopefully they're able to get everything into a tolerable spec with the new control arms.

Mainly just wanted to share my positive experience with Martin Motorsport in case anyone in the area was still looking. Gary (owner) is a good guy but be prepared, he loves to chat.

If anyone here is from NY and looking to get MSS installed. I just got mine done today from Intrack auto in Hempstead LI. For 1000 I got the MSS springs installed, front g05 upper control arms, 4 new tires mounted on 4 new rims, balanced, tps calibrated and a wheel stud conversion. The alignment is also included in that price but they told me to bring the suv back Wednesday, because they want the springs to settle in before they do it. Drove the truck home from the shop which was 22 miles, and it felt good no noise or rattles. They do a lot of BMW work in the shop and a few of the techs have g80’s which are highly modded. Overall a good experience and a great price.

I am going to install Dinan lowering springs. Labor is $1000 and the alignment $250. What are people using for spacer sizes front and rear after the lowering?

Just installed the MSS kit on mine about a week ago. Decided to watch a YouTube video to aid in the install and it only took me about 4.5 hours. That’s with a floor jack and stopping to rewatch parts of the video as well. The only uncommon tool I needed to order was a spring compressor.

Spacers- I went with 12 for the front and 18 for the rear.

A buddy of mine also recommended a shop called GT Peace in Chantilly which is where he gets all his work done. I wasn't aware of the shop prior to getting my springs installed but sounds like another viable option folks in that area can look into.

I'm sure the work RRT does is fine, the pricing was just outlandish compared to any other quote I got. Apparently the owner of RRT used to work for Gary (owner of Martin Motorsport) before branching out and starting his own shop (per Gary) so I found that interesting.

In any case, I just wanted to provide more options for folks looking to get work done in the NoVA area.
