Sounds like the same thing as a CB Radio (many will ask what's that) needing to be registered with the FCC. Many, many years ago, a license from the FCC was required to transmit on a CB.

It probably won't be an issue unless something fails, potentially jamming the channel, and the FCC hunts you down! It isn't hard to register...

Still with this nonsense? The FCC will triangulate your position, track you with satellites, report you to the NSA who will then unmask you.

If you're worried about being tracked, don't buy a modern vehicle with GPS, cellular connection built-in, and don't own a cellphone! There are lots of ways to track people with modern tech.

does registering as per BMW's email PDF with instructions help improve phone data signal in the car?

I get music stutters depending on the exact location of my phone in the car. sometimes if i pick up up and hold it chin level, my spoify streaming over android auto doesn't stutter. If the phone is in the cupholder, AA Music stutters...

Registering it doesn't do anything. It's already working. As already mentioned, it only boosts the signal when the phone is in the charging tray.

Not magic, antenna 1 is in the tray, the amp is in rear cubby, antenna 2 is in the hatch.

bringing this thread back from the dead... I wonder if someone tried to boost the booster with something like the weboost drive reach ($500)

It would be great to be able to install that stuff in the trunk and use the existing cable to reach the phone in the front craddle...

personally that antenna booster from BMW seems to have ZERO boost... when I put my phone in the craddle I do not see any signal improvement at all

Did you mean Dec 2020? It kind of hard to get a MY21 in 2019
