Android Box on iDrive screen

Though I'd share a cool A/V setup I installed today; an android box from "Group Buy Car Parts" (facebook).

It's a small android box powered by a supplied USB-C cable. Interestingly the box shows up as CarPlay device. Once selected the Custom Android UI is launched. I was able to access the Google Play store and download apps. Here are a couple of pics.

What does it use for the data required to run apps?

The android box has wifi. It worked well with my iPhone hotpot, home wifi and BMW Wifi hotspot. I wish it used the BMW data like the BMW Spotify app… but no.

Interesting. If you watch YouTube or Netflix does the audio seem to be in sync or on a delay?

Actually yes. Just tested youtube and slight delay. Netflix seems to be less so.

Yes. I use the one inside the armrest/center console.

Hello

i habe this box also, but with following problem.

my x5 g05 with id7 automatically shows the mmb, carplay. even if i switch back to the idrive, then drive reverse with the camera, it will switch back to the carplay afterwards instead of back to the idrive.

does anyone also have this problem? can you turn off this autostart?

So if you have this connected, would an iPhone connected via Bluetooth still let you make and receive calls?

my car now has version 11/2021.30 and that mmb no longer works. have deleted everything and reconnected, but after it is connected, the connection breaks after 5 seconds.

has anyone also the problem and found a solution?
The manufacturer just says they are looking.

hello, I have exactly the same problem, and the seller has no solution for the moment other than refund or maybe wait for an update ... It's a shame because it works fine on my M3 in soft 03 / 2021.50.

there is now an update available.

i am waiting for feedback on how to install the update as the connection always drops.

i should receive the answer tomorrow.

I installed the Dec 28th Android box and while it updated the software, I am now getting an unstable connection to the car. The android box disconnects after 10-15 secs. Totally useless now.

I will contact the manufactuer and see what they say.

I think this is by design (of the Carplay interaction). Not sure if you can stop the auto start for Carplay or not.

with the new software, i cant connect anymorr.
i ask the manu, but now anser yet.

it is tedious with this company. i have been waiting for a response for a week.
I have not been able to use it for months and there is no solution in sight.
