So much this. Long ago I stopped sweating the details on this stuff. Sales people need to eat too. I hate it when my clients beat me up to squeeze the last penny out of my fees and I take no pleasure in doing this to others trying to earn a living.

I would be shocked if the 25 is different in any material way. So just going with my order and moving on with life is where my head is at the moment.
I understand your perspective, Gibson, but I don't view money in that way. Just because I have it doesn't mean I'm willing to give it away easily. A car is typically the second largest purchase people make, and I like to get the best deal possible. It just wouldn't sit right with me to pay full MSRP when the '25 models will be out a few months later. When I'm spending over $100k, I like to feel good about my purchase.

I've worked in sales as well, so I completely understand when a company is nickeling and diming its customers. I've actually gone to bat for my customers to get a discount when a price was unreasonable. It's part of the game. The salespeople will be fine, and the dealership would not accept a deal that was detrimental to their bottom line. I understand some people don't like to negotiate but I'm not one of them.

Absolutely agree. That plus I hate dealership practices of trying to deceive people in the so many ways they do. It's a dishonest practice and it bothers me to enable it.

My point was more towards my own well-being. Sure, I can cancel my order, start shopping around, see if I can find discounted MY25 cars, wait a few more months for the build to complete. Then pick up the car. Who knows how all of that will play out. How worth it will be? Whether you will save money or just lose more time enjoying the car.

Trust me, my mind is changing every hour on this. It's a major purchase and should be taken seriously.

I've called the dealership I'm currently working with and they told me flat out they won't discount a 25. So do I start putting the time and effort into finding a discount elsewhere or just stick with what I have and move on.

I suspect evanseric21 there is not much daylight between our views. I don't simply surrender to the dealers pricing. Today there is a wealth of information available on the average price regionally for every mass produced motor vehicle. I do my research and am happy to pay the average price or a little below. My point is I don't sweat the details aside from getting a reasonable price. I don't need the best possible deal. I don't view it as a competition and I'm guessing you don't either. I say 'no' to all the other add-ons they try to sell me at closing with the exception of tire and wheel coverage. I lease and invariable at least one rim gets scraped in 3 years of living in a city and parallel parking. I'm not the only one who drives the X5

Of course it is. It is a depreciating asset but does have value in many cases.

Given you got a discount on the MY24 I would suggest you stick with that. You likely would have to wait months in order to match that discount. Not only would you miss out on driving the new vehicle but you also risk interest rates rising so the cost of money will be greater.

There comes a point in time where one just has to say "ok, I'm going with it" because there always seems to be bigger discounts in the future or a new MY coming out. Eventually you get paralysis by analysis but not a new vehicle.

Touche'. I'm programmed to automatically view anything costing me money every month and not going up in value as a liability.

I get evanseric21 point. May be more accurate to say that our BMWs maybe depreciating assets but they are not an investment where investments are intended to make money.
I love my BMW but it's a tool to get me where I need to be. It's a beautiful tool that is a joy to drive and ride in, but a tool nonetheless and not something I hold precious. 3 years from now, I'll move on to a new tool.

For the bad rep that BMW owners get you guys are pretty chill lol. This will be my first Bimmer and guys like TurtleBoy and others are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The Audi forums were full of angry old men arguing all the time lol.

MY 25 receives the eye lane change tracking which was introduced on the 5 series. If your ordering DAP, then wait for the MY25.

I don't plan on selling my vehicle in the next year or so, but you never know. However, if I can get a good deal, I will definitely keep my order.
A car is indeed an asset. It’s not an investment but a depreciating asset by any measure. Whatever amount of $$ one owes on it is a liability. Basic accounting.

I have an order for a ‘24 at full MSRP. That’s the market in the Texas metros right now. In the event the ‘25’s are the same price and don’t water down the options, any reason I shouldn’t tell my dealer to change to a ‘25 other than more wait? I’m not saying I’d do that, but something to consider.

It doesn't amount to much in the scheme of things and DAP is a must-have option in many people's eyes.
