Honestly i got tired of wasting time on this and said F it i am going to try it and be guinea pig and deal with consequences afterwards Certainly there a few posts on forums where people feel jerking motion or traction sets off with high variance. So far i have not felt that. |

for something like this, you just wanna use the correct value. imagine physicists using the diameter of the moon when calculating the Apollo’s time to travel around the back side of the moon when calculating its burn time to return to Earth. not good! like you, I’m willing to walk the edge to see the limits of our vehicles. I just hope this isn’t a bad experiment for you. keep us posted… |

Front 295 40 21. Rear. 295 40 22 I have had zero issues since I made switch on stock rims. I put them on as winter tires and drove maybe 3000 or so miles. I just changed back to stock pirellis last week for summer |

For winter setup I can get same size but up the sidewall from stock: 295/40r21 and 315/35r22. The diameter/circumference difference goes up from 1% to 1.3%. Does this setup sound acceptable? Could also do 295/35r22 for a -0.7% difference but negative sounds problematic Last edited by bmwarg; 10-19-2023 at 11:35 PM.. |

I'm on my 3rd set of tires. Bought a 2020 x5mc with 26k and stock pirelli tires which rode terribly. Got a flat in the right rear and switched out all 4 to Accelera iota in stock size on 818m wheels and did Dinan springs and ride and handling kit.Rode way better and got another 14k before the rears were largely bald, fronts were pretty worn inside. Switched to Toyo STIII, stock front size and 335 25 22 rears. Best combo so far, great ride, better handling than the Accelera. Got all 4 tires for $880.

I personally think you would be ok with the 1.3% variance. But i am no way an expert. There is so many opinions on proper variance. From my original post i rocked those tires for about 4 months last year i just traded my x5m for a LCI It was a short while while maybe i put about 3000 or so miles on them, no transfer case issue. winter is almost upon us, i still have same tires and will put them on again |

Be mindful that having a larger varience from stock Front/Rear Diameter could impact your warranty on the center diff.
It might be ok for a certain time period but fail down the line. I'm starting to see more people post about center diffs failing and the first thing they check is wheel/tire size.
