Should I opt for a BMW Ultimate Care+ ?

Hi everyone
On the fence about getting or not getting a BMW Ultimate Care + package.
We recently purchased a 2024 xDrive40i and added a wheel and tire protection package for 4 years for 3000 dollars which I assume is a must have for staggered wheels setup and the cost of tires/rims (we live in FL and among of road debris and nails here is awful).

But what would you suggest for getting a BMW Ultimate Care + package which costs $2800 for 4 years. From what I can see it may save you some money when you need to replace brake pads and rotors (really depends on driving habits and my wife will be driving the car gently). Everything else is pretty much covered by the warranty (4y or 50k miles).

Thank you.

Skip it, you will end up getting a few sets of wiper blades and an oil change for your $2,800 as it is unlikely you will need brake pads and rotors.

Not sure about your "Everything else is pretty much covered by the warranty (4y or 50k miles)" comment. The warranty provides no maintenance items. Ultimate Care covers oil and filter changes for 3 yrs/36k miles.

No, I mentioned Ultimate Care+ which is different from a regular Ultimate Care for 3 years of free maintenance + covers brake pads and rotors as well as spark plugs, so essentially by purchasing it you invest in possible rotors and pads replacement if needed.

Not sure why you are saying No, perhaps you didn't read my post prior to responding.

Sorry for confusion. There’s a regular Ultimate Care and Ultimate Care+.
The regular one covers 3 years of maintenance and is free or already included into vehicles price.
Here’s a picture for a better look.

Just say NO! It's not a good value IMO. It adds very little, if anything, to resale value. Lot's can happen between now and whenever you might need to replace wear and tear items.

What Turtle is getting at is you are very unlikely to actually hit the rotors and pads. It's a bet on whether you'll need them, and the upside is what, maybe a few hundred dollars, if at all? Not worth the bet in my opinion. Now if you're driving 15-18k+/year, could buy it for the peace of mind I'll say that.

If Im reading this correctly.. If you have Ultimate care you get the 3 oil changes for free and service micro filter? Is this filter they show the cabin filter?

I'm changing rear pads and rotors every 20-23k miles. Fronts last 40k+. Depends on how many miles you'll be driving per year. If you get 2 rear and a front rotor and pads change its more than worth it.

You must be tremendously hard on brakes? Do you drive two-footed? Maybe a lot of city driving. I think we have only had a handful or so of members here who have changed their pads and we are at 5 years for some. Mine is over 5yrs at 62k miles and I'm at 8mm on the rear and 7mm on the front so should be getting more than the 75k -100k miles that should be expected of them.

Thanks for the info!

I'm surprised they list spark plugs on your attached info but Marakov's attached clearly shows only 3 black checkmarks for oil changes and cabin filter?
Past that, I thought spark plugs last much longer than 30,000 miles?

My Sales rep advised me that you can buy the package when you need brake pads and rotors, so I will wait. If I see I will need brakes done before 4 years/50k miles I will buy the package. Traditionally all my previous cars (not BMW's) needed brakes at around 70k miles.

OP: short answer. Don't buy. I did and all I got was 3 sets of wiper blades and a set of cabin filters. Not worth it unless you track your X5 and wear out the brakes. Even then it's probably a wash.

Mine is Msport package with m performance brakes. Not sure if it makes any difference in terms of pads/rotors replacement frequency

Shouldn't have a material effect.
