Question PPF + color wrap cost for 2023 X6 M50i

Hi all - just got my Alpine White X6 M50i about two weeks ago . This is how it looks now:

I wanted to protect the paint and potentially change to a different color. Here are some quotes I got below.

3M full satin aluminum gray: $8,000 (if paid in cash $6,500). Color looks like this:

for full gloss XPEL PPF: $9,000 (if paid in cash $7,500)

Don't worry...they are only asking for $500 deposit and then paid full when they're done. Comes with labor and part (fading, etc.) warranty as well. I know there is no ROI for either PPF or wrap (if it gets damaged, you need to replace it), but car in a custom color / paint protection is more important to me than swirls / scratches.

Am I being ripped off? Thanks in advance!

prices are a touch high but if the detailer is high-end then explains why. try negotiating down $750-1500 more.

I think these prices vary a lot by region of the country too.

Seems a bit higher to me. Like 1000-1500 high

Thanks. The shop is based in Los Angeles and they work with higher end cars like Lamborghinis, Ferraris, rolls Royce, and such.

Thanks. Super helpful! They said it’s a “large” suv and that’s why it’s a bit higher but they do mainly deal with higher end vehicles. An x3 would be a smaller suv in their eyes

Yea sounds like it. You know it's all relative if they do good job it maybe worth it cuz it sucks when u still spending 4k and then it's just not that high level of work it's frustrating.

kgelfen -

do you know how to look at what a good install is if you go PPF. Dust Nibs, Tucked Corners, Edge detail, Glue Silvering - Lift Lines, over-stretched film, and the long laundry list of thins to see. To some consumers, it may look all the day with said defect list...

There will always be a contamination or 2 but it's a balance of a great job vs a -uber perfect job-. Gloss will show more than stealth.

Vinyl is 5X thinner than PPF so install is different and easier to work with.

I could go on and on about wrapbut IME, you may find that the top 3 install shops in you area have same/similar pricing. Don't go just because you see exotics in the shop. You should go see their works in person or finished work --*if you have a eye for it and can spot a quality install*. I myself have seen poor workmanship out of shops with exotics.

IME, pricing is regional, but top quality work is relative to the install shop...and market rate of you region. My vote is check out the shops work and let that guide you. Don't shop by price. A gently reminder but sometime this involves scoring the film micro meters away from your paint....

Cut Paint happens with these installs, even with experienced technicians. Often times...you won't ever see it. Until the wrap / film is removed for whatever reason needed.

There usually isn't any negotiating with high end PPF installers. The front bumper of the X6 is relatively complex and with inflation lately, you aren't getting ripped off.
