Heads Up Display

How or what to use when cleaning the HUD projector screen. Certain angles/part of the HUD is hazy, I already cleaned the interior and exterior windshield so I assuming the prep guys accidentally got over spray on the projector screen when cleaning the windshield or something.

Got this from 2019 X5 Manual, I copy exact words said:
Clean with a clean, antistatic microfiber cloth. Clean the protective glass of the head up display using a microfiber cloth and commercially available DISH-WASHING SOAP. I capital the words dish-washing soap, if any of them are safe for the HUD glass.

No, no. Don't use any chemical product. Microfiber cloth with regular water.

However you need to set your expectations. If you are not straight on with it, the image will become fuzzy or disappear entirely.

Thats why based on your seated position you can adjust HUD height and rotation of the image.

Because the HUD is basically an open hole in the dash, it's subject to all the stuff that you see on your dash after a period of time like dust, lint, airborne gases residue, pollen, etc. When I clean my dash I also clean the HUD and simply use a clean water damped microfiber towel.

Likely the best as you want it to be chemical free (primarily the run of the mill ammonia used in glass cleaners). I use Sprayway Glass Cleaner which is chemical free plus the microfiber. Spray a small amount on the towel and it cleans perfectly. FYI Sprayway is my go to for the piano black speakers (2 subs) in my home audio/theater system. Have recommended it to others with piano black trim in their BMWs and it's a godsend. Zero swirls and a glass like finish once cleaned.

My 2017 540i is crystal clear no matter what angle I’m looking at. It really looks like there’s some type of film or something on the display.

Did you for chance have a light tint applied to your windshield?

Did you have the windshield replaced at any point?

^^^^^This. Sprayway is the best, cleans glass, computer screens, TV screens. All this stuff and it is dirt cheap. Use it with a microfiber as suggested above.

Sprayway is awesome stuff, but I don't think it's chemical-free.
