Time to change my current G01 X3 for a bigger more powerful SUV

Hi Col,
Long time no speak, we PM'd quite a few times on the Detaling World forum. Congratulations on your new X5 order, great spec too, if I remember correctly you cancelled your last order because of the suspension, am I right. Plenty of photos when it arrives please, no doubt you've seen plenty of my X5 40i on the DW forum. Are you having it ceramic coated or are you going to do it yourself. Regards, Chris, |

Will be detailing it myself altho not looking foreword to that as the X5’s are quite big mutha’s lol |

Yes they are big when it comes to cleaning them, I've got a small folding 'platform' so I can reach the roof. One good thing is that you can raise the ride height making it a bit easier to clean under the wheel arches. |

Just had an update from my Sales guy
‘I have just received an update from BMWUK regarding your X5 build. Your car is now built and has left the port! It is currently at sea, I would expect to see the car in the next 3-4 weeks.’ Looks like I’m going to get it sooner than I expected - wahoo! |

The coffee sensafin takes on different shades. Definitely not as dark as it is in the online configurator. I like it! Congrats!

1000'ish mile report
It sure is a big mutha, however it hides its size well when driven As I came from the current X3 its fairly easy to compare For starters - for a big SUV it is very quick - quoted 0-60mph is 5.8secs & it feels it I'll time it when I've got more miles on it The 10 speaker 205w Hi-Fi sound system is more than adequate - definitely a massive improvement MMI screen is defo higher definition Normally I would always choose black interiors so choosing the coffee one was a little out of my comfort zone but nontheless a nice change from black Air suspension is great, however the ride is definitely harder on 22's with 30 & 35 section tyres, however there is suprisingley little tyre noise at motorway speeds Wheels are a PITA to clean, speaking of which the X5 takes ages to clean & when you do like today it flaming well rains when you've finished  With it having mild hybrid technology I can't turn the stop/ start off (did I ever mention i hate S/S with a passion) so getting used to driving with it - do I like it any better? Hell no! Couple of things that are taking some getting used to - Freewheeling/coasting function - still feels a bit weird when it clicks in Lane departure warning - strange if you haven't experienced it before - & yes I know I can turn it down / off but whats the point in having it & turning it off - its a safety feature after all Best mpg so far - 83 mile run, 80% motorway , majority on cruise control (yes I'm lazy lol) at indicated 75mph (actual 73mph) - 46.2mpg which ain't to bad for a 2+ tonne SUV with a 3litre 6 cylinder diesel engine Getting around 38-40mpg around town These figures may improve a little as the miles go on Still haven't had time to detail it yet as I have a lot going on at home at the mo so its a wash & a QD Still yet to tow with the X5 We seem to get plenty of compliments about the colour & the colour of the interior The size of those back tyres still make me sweat a little about replacement ops:  Thanks for reading (y) |

I'm pleased your enjoying your new X5 Col.
I know what you're staying about the stop/start system, when I had my Nissan Qashqai I used to turn it off at the beginning of every journey but now I'm getting used to it on the X5 I quite like it. |
