ugh, the OEM gong has always jolted me despite reducing it to the lowest volume. (i guess one could argue it’s doing its job as designed.) we especially hated it on road trips during the night when our kids were younger as we traversed up and down mountain passes multiple times GONG!! “WARNING: freezing temperatures!”

the MINI sound files are much more pleasant for both PDC and gong!

Couldn't agree more! A couple times it scared me so bad I swerved into the next lane. Thankfully no one next to me at the time. People in the car with me freaked out as well.

I'm using the BMW 2021 sounds, and it sounds video gameish to me. Not jarring and pleasant noises. I don't think I seen the Mini sounds, just whatever regular is, BMW 2021, and Royals Royce. I'll take a look again.

Wow, I've never seen this in 3 winters now. Just that stupid "37 degrees" alert every time I back out of the garage.

That stupid warning saved my butt once. I was driving my 550 sedan much faster than I should one night in the late summer on a damp highway through the Rocky Mountains. The temperature had been about the mid 60's.

Unknown to me, the temperature was rapidly dropping the further I drove into the mountains as the elevation increased. Suddenly, the ice warning flashed on. I thought this was strange because the temperature had been so warm. Nevertheless, in response to the warning I slowed down.

About 5 miles later I came to a curved bridge with a metal deck. Ice had formed on the metal deck. Not sure I would have made it across the bridge at the speed I was traveling before the warning.

Yes, it is a bit of a pain to see the warning everyday throughout the winter. On the other hand, I am certain the ice warning can and does save lives.

It affects about 80k vehicles of various models. I would check your vin on the BMW recall site as that should be updated with all of the VINs.

For me ID7 as well, and I honestly cannot remember if I have been using Nav or not to get tue "Dangerous Traffic" notification. I've gotten "dangerous object in road" before on the way to work, so not using Nav then.

Thread Brump. Is there some consensus where in ID7 to turn it off.

It comes up multiple times in a single driving route....

If you don't click OK to make the warning confirmed, the screen does not disappear until you drive past 1/4 mile of it's warning and from my brief recollection, the warning comes up at least 1 mile away from whatever the warning is alerting of.

It's one is using NAV in roads unknown, it get's pretty dang annoying

I’ve had these alerts for some time already….but with the latest update the alerts have been more frequent and bogus

“Slippery road” in Los Angeles on a sunny day? C’mon guys

Before the latest update…the alert was definitely more relevant. Notified me of animals on the road (didn’t see one but kept me alert), a brush fire (that was true), disabled vehicles (I would give this 60% accuracy) and debris on the highway (also about 60/40 true)

FYI. .. I've driven about 20K miles and have never seen this "dangerous traffic situation ahead" warning until just a day ago when it popped up and surprised me. I kept driving only to find there was no such dangerous situation anywhere in sight. I have iDrive 7 on a 2021 X5 running old software.. .. 03/2022.52 I was using the built in navigation when the msg popped up.

the strange thing is that my X5 does this with no verbal announcement but my fiances X7 does it with a verbal announcement. Both ID7.

Either way, super annoying but cannot figure out how to get rid of it.

I only use CarPlay and not OE Navi and the popups are static even with CarPlay unless you click OK to make the warning go away and or until you drive a 1/4 mile past said warning. The warning comes up at approx 1 mile away from said *warning area*

Is it just me.....this must have been a Backend Software Bug or Adjustment

With zero changes done in iDrive, it has went from multiple constant alerts in a single drive session......to where over the last few times I cannot recall a single alert, even when I do 400 mile trip.
