Hello everyone, yesterday I received an oil change from a service. Everything was good until randomly it says “engine oil service required” and a lot of other services that aren’t due until 2026. What does this mean?
Thank you

Take it back to them and they should be able to figure it out. Almost seems like your date/clock is off.

Yeah, I would bet your set date is screwed up. Do these vehicles get the date/time from the GPS or does it give you the option to set it yourself?

It’s a condition based service indicator that uses both actual time between changes and a sensor that looks at the oil plus some other factors. The time is 1 year in the USA. That’s shorter than in some other countries and may be partly because of the allowable amount of sulfur here verses some other places in the world in the gas/petrol.

Should be getting it from the vehicle's cell connection.

Both…there’s an auto setting and you can manually set the time & date.

Pretty much all cellular service these days is digital, and the time of day must be quite accurate for it all to work without all of the devices ‘stepping’ on each other, so cellular works for setting time. Now, why they don’t use the GPS signal, which also must be quite accurate and is available places cellular isn’t, I don’t know. A nanosecond equates to about 10” of accuracy with GPS.
