2024 X5M Review Thread

First "official" review that I found. 0-60 test and not much else. Not a real technical review but perhaps they will be starting soon.

I just can’t continue watching…he’s sliding his hands on everything; so annoying. These reviewers don’t seem to understand it’s not about them; it’s about the vehicle. 😑🙄

I tried to watch that before and he's annoying.

This is the best review I've found.

See it’s not difficult to offer up a straight forward review like this guy did. Clear, concise, smooth. No caressing the dash/tires/etc.
I don’t agree with the iDrive 8 climate assessment. I’ve had mine for almost 2 months and 1000 miles. It’s 1 tap of the “climate” tab and then selecting whatever you want in the submenu. Then another tap of the “climate” tab and it takes you back to the previous operation that you were in. That simple. You get used to anything that is new. I feel people always have adverse reactions to the newer tech or design then they get over themselves and move forward. They’re supposed to update us with 8.5 which some are saying is better. We will see. Whatever the case I’ll get used to it when mine is updated. ✌🏽

I notice that many of these reviews show that the trunk's sliding cover includes a button to drop it down into the wheel well area and out of sight... our '24 X5MC does not include this. Is this a Canada / Europe market feature not present on US models?

I've noticed this as well and I'm pretty sure it is a Canada / Euro thing. I don't want the extra weight of that costly gimmick in mine.

It may not weigh any more (manual one in my old X3 probably weighs 20 lbs). It would sure be way more convenient when you are out and about and need to remove it.

Canadian X5MC - I have it and it’s great. It covers the trunk space automatically when the tailgate/door closes, retracts when you open the trunk, and can be stowed in the floor as well if you’re doing a larger haul where you need the height (or just don’t want to use it).

If I had to pay extra for it as an option, I would likely have passed. But if a cost-free take it or leave it option, it’s a no-brainer.

Well, I'm glad to know that it's just a BOM difference by market and not something that was accidentally forgotten during the build of my vehicle

I'm a bit torn. When I watch these video reviews, that feature looks amazing and exciting. But then I think how many bits this vehicle already has and perhaps I should be happy with one less thing to break. But then I think 'I probably paid the same price as my Canadian brethren but got one less feature' and become a bit salty. But then I think 'perhaps my vehicle is a bit lighter and therefore quicker!' But then....

and on and on and on

I'm okay not having it, I guess

Yes, other markets only. It was available very briefly for USA at the beginning of G05 / F95 production, but not for long. I've read reports that it rattles and becomes unreliable before long, but perhaps that's been fixed by now.

I wouldn't mind having it, but rattles are my true kryptonite when it comes to vehicles, so I'm perfectly happy with my manually stowable version. At least on the X5 it fits under the loading floor when not in use (not the case on my previous Audi, so it lived in the basement and was never used...).

That first guy sounds too much like Doug Demuro (sp?) and not original. I can only tolerate so much of his voice.

I feel like BMW could have done something special with the display rather than just slapping a rectangular screen on the dash. They need some lessons from Audio on minimizing the screen bezel. Exhaust sounds nice.

Wonder if they added the accessory mount receiver on the backs of the seats where the USB-C ports are? Would be a nice addition for those with kids.

Very positive review with comparisons to Cayenne GT Turbo. This guy called it a “very heavy” LCI refresh which improved driving dynamics and response.

A bit mixed on the review quality - of the 16 minutes, about 10 is spec reading and color commentary on the product space, and the rest is basically "this has really good throttle response" spread out across a bunch of video.

Agreed lol. The one about the V8 being brutal I wasted time not realizing he wasn't going to drive the vehicle. Will just end up finding one at a dealer to get a better sense of it as I was wanting to pick up an F90 or 95 but the expansion tank issue of the S63 and BMW's lack of a solution is really off putting.

What i'm really curious to see is a pre lci to lci comparison to see what BMW changed. Seems like alot of these reviews are comparing it to the normal X5.

The BMWBlog video linked earlier on this thread was to my eye the only one worth watching. After that one, the rest are largely irrelevant.
