iDrive 9 is not promised. They will all be built with iDrive 8.5 from August or be OTA-ed to 8.5.

There are no plans for 9, just being updated to 8.5. BMW announced that the other month.

I believe the answer is LCIs produced this spring and being produced currently will get 8.5 as they have the hardware. I believe 9 is far more uncertain. Definitely not by end of this year and possibly not at all. But others can correct me if I missed.

OS 9.0 is a completely different system being based on Android, not Linux like before and as far as I can tell no one knowledgeable on here believes it would ever be available in the G05. (Also because 9.0 is meant to be used through touch as 9.0 cars don't have the iDrive wheel anymore if I remember correct.)

That is correct. All of the other places are in India, China and other parts of the Far East.

A colleague of me has a BMW i, don’t know the model anymore. He says it comes from China. Are there BMW’s produced in China for the Western market?

The last I saw everything was produced for their domestic market except for the iX3 which was also for export.
