Dinan BMW F95 X5M & F96 X6M Middle Exhaust / X-Pipe

Part Number(s): D660-0092
Applications:
  • 2020-2023 F95 X5M
  • 2020-2023 F95 X5M Competition
  • 2020-2023 F96 X6M
  • 2020-2023 F96 X6M Competition
Product Page(s) / Pricing: dinan.info/F95-X
Release Date: Available Now!

Description: The Dinan X-Pipe for the F95 X5M and F96 X6M introduces a more aggressive tone and an increase in volume over the stock system. Coupled with the associated Dinan exhaust, the sound is further enhanced into a smoother, fuller, and more aggressive growl that perfectly encapsulates the dynamic nature of the V8 powered SAV’s.

This full mid-section kit removes the hydro-formed factory center section, including the resonator, and replaces it with larger 3.25" T304 stainless steel tubing for freer flowing capabilities. In place of the factory resonator, Dinan incorporates a beautifully crafted X-pipe made from mandrel-bent tubing for minimum restriction, unlike stamped X-pipes which are commonplace in the market. This hand-made 'X' is not only the focal point of the system in terms of aesthetics but also the star when it comes to the effects on the sound. Promoting even flow to both banks of tips, the 'X' removes unwanted nuances in sound caused by uneven exhaust flow that is found in stock systems. Along with the inherent benefit of increased volume by removal of the resonator, the Dinan X-Pipe for the F9x X5M/X6M produces a louder, smoother and fuller exhaust note.

Features/Benefits:
  • Smoother, louder and sportier sound
  • 83mm tubing replaces stock 80mm tubing for free flow
  • Deletes resonator between catalyst and rear muffler for increased volume
  • Includes X-pipe crossover made from mandrel bent tubing for minimum restriction
  • 100% 304 stainless steel construction
  • Factory-like fitment with included mounting hardware

I ordered as well. I think with the secondary cats removed and the X pipe, it should be loud enough where it’s not obnoxious. I hope there’s no drone though.

Do you currently have secondaries on?

Question - Where it mates to the factory exhaust system, does the midpipe reduce down to the same exact size as the factory pipe diameter? If that is the case this should also work on those with the Akrapovic rear section because it attaches to the factory system at the same exact spot where the dimples are (where you cut)

Mid is designed to mate with the factory exhaust or the Dinan one so if Akra uses the same diameter as stock it should fit fine as well.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if the way the dinan midpipe connects to the factory exhaust if its slightly bigger so you can insert the factory pipe into it or if it was same exact size and just connects with the clamp without any overlap from either pipe. If its the latter then the Akra will work.

No, I removed them a while back. Now with the midpipe I’ll have no secondaries and no resonator.

The connection from the axleback to the midpipe the pipes simply bump up to one another with a Torca clamp connecting the two so it sounds like you should be golden.

Good afternoon Dinan Team,

Quick question regarding the Middle Exhaust/X-Pipe, which looks amazing BTW. I have heard, and read, that the exhaust for the X5M can also fit the M50i (which is the same as the xDrive 50i). Curious if this new piece would/could be retrofitted to the M50i/xDrive 50i? Visually looks possible, but welcome your expertise…and could potentially open up a lot of new customers if it fits.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Jeff

Have never fit the exhaust or mid to the M50i so couldn’t say definitively what may be needed but just from quick technical data the M50i piping is smaller so at minimum assuming the routing and clearances are the same the Dinan mid would require adapting/fabricating down a size to fit.

Thanks for the quick response and understood. With that said, what about M550i xDrive Mid/X-pipe? Would that pipe diameter be similar to the M50i’s?

I ask because I can say there is def demand from the G05 X5 M50i/xDrive 50i folks that are looking for some aftermarket exhaust stuff like this. 😊

Thanks again!

Any chance of offering this as just an x-pipe short section? No need for the entire mid-pipe.

Dinan M550i mid is roughly the same diameter as stock M50i (76mm vs 75mm) but the pipe routing is different dimensional. M50i piping (assuming it’s the same as X5M) is wider offset. M550i mid is also a fair amount longer than the X5M mid. Short of it, is it would still require hacking it up and fabricating elements to get that one to work as well. Actually likely more involved.

Doubtful. Going off of memory as I don’t have the engineering images to reference remotely but I am nearly certain the reason we went the whole length is the vast majority of the stock mid is hydrformed pipe (ie: not round) which is required to get it to mate and create a seal without gaps. Pretty sure the first round section where cutting could occur was within a foot of the cats anyway so rather than make another cut for little reason (no real cost savings) we extended it all the way so it could just be unbolted and dropped on that end.

Im sorry thats what I actually meant, have you gone catless, lol. But great now the question is do I wait to hear your setup or just go full send and see how it is.
