Typically the switchover occurs about two months before the SOP so even 10/22 is too soon.

My understanding is '23.

Btw are there rumours of new range or battery size estimates?!

What about new live cockpit?

In the turbo era, my hunch is that S motors are engineered first, then they reduce the costs of components to create the N variants. Much more cost efficient. So this move doesn't surprise me at all.
Incorrect, engine always starts out as a N, then handed off to BMW M for the S development. I have been told this 1st hand in Germany by the former lead R&D for the X5M/X6M (now retired).

Suspension, transmission, higher level interior trim. Different body kit.

It's just cars they will all end up as piles of dirt some day. If I ever get that CSL allocation I'm putting winter tires on it just to nag you "special car buyers" 😝

Who cares whats a "real" type of car or not. Long as you like the car. I'll probably trade in my F95 for an M60i once it's available depending on what options you can spec on it vs the new X5MC

4.7 in what world? Its advertised as 5.3 I doubt its over half a second faster than advertised. Its usually .1-.3 seconds quicker

I never said I got my car to garage it, I chose it because according to your logic it was the best feeling to drive. I drive the hell out of my car through the winter as well. I'm speaking on the lack of diversification with the brand as a whole. The "special cars" really aren't that special anymore. Why would I buy an X5M comp when I can buy an X5M60i with the same engine?

It may be the same engine but it is not the same HP. Even putting that aside, what makes an M car an M car is much more than the engine. Actually I think that could be one of the least important differences between the M Performance and the M cars.

That's the biggest gap between test drive and advertised time I've seen yet

Yes, I don't think I have seen any in that range. Must have been extremely favorable conditions or possibly a test error.

C&D always measure 0-60 with 1ft roll out, such times are usually 0.3-0.4 sec quicker

Depends on the size of your ego. I love "my" M50i and N63 with the 523hp. I'm not beating every car on the road off the red light today and all that changed is that I won't either tomorrow. Don't care!

Wow, much more power becomes a commodity and that's about time since the EV (new) competition doesn't mind pushing out >800hp beasts. These new EV supercars draw a trail of devastation and BMW has to react. Nice to see they will!

Here's my 2 cents

M50i and X5M will always be different cars and for different customers. BMW knows what they are doing and are not dummies.

An "//M" car is not just an engine or just a body kit, it's a combination of Engine, suspension, brakes, tires, wheels, exhaust and other various parts that differentiate it.

My M50i has a jb4 tune and Downpipes and im sure it's high 500's HP which is very close to an X5M.
Does it drive like an M? No, does it feel like an M? No…. Even if the LCI uses the X5M engine and detunes it, it doesn't mean that X5M owners are suckers for getting them.

Ive driven X5M's and X6M's back to back compared to my car and sure the power is there and somewhat similar but there is no feeling like an M car. The way an M hugs the road (I have DHP on my M50i) and the response of the engine and transmission is day and night.

It's kinda silly reading all of these comments, at the end of the day, we all did our research before buying the specific models we got. We all have our reasonings and preferences, so I'm just baffled by these comments. We have a great community here that helps and supports each other, I've been a member here since 2008 when I got my first BMW which was a 328i coupe with manual seats and literally no options in the car, everyone on here was more than accepting and loving.

Ok rant over haha

All I see is a possible X5M badged as a M60i for $80-$90K. Real, fake, whatever. That's awesome news.

What this will do is bump the X5M to $120-$130K and bridge the profitability gap BMW has in this segment compared to the GLE63 and Cayenne.

Any chance the deleted things like soft close doors and bowers wilkens will make a return for the 50e?
