It is more a matter of "will" and product planning well in advance of launch, based on an assumed user profile in the US, than... simple supply. "Supply" has become such a poor shorthand for a complex mix of "demand," "supply," and forecasting/planning.

I dig it! I’m happy they didn’t kill the look of the X5. I may just have to order one when I am ready to trade up!

  • The third has the Cornering Light and blue elements like the pre-LCI Laser Lights. The third picture came from the BMWUSA website.
They are gone from everything we have seen. They are keeping the blue accents in the top headlight option from what I have read, will try and find it. The pictures are from a European model and they likely have three headlight options similar to how they have had in the past on some models and/or they could be different pre-production models.

Unfortunately that is not how it has been working. BMW can only get a limited number of units from B&W, they sell every one that they can get. When there has been "extra" they offered them to 40i and 45e builds. As supply increases/normalizes then they will be offered as a regular option on the 40i and 45e. Like other options, they will first offer it in smaller markets where demand can be met rather than in the US where they would have to constantly issue production constraints when there is a shortage of supply.

Looks great, but good God that pricing is nutty.

I'm sure this thing will sell well, but wow.

Turtle - is there an option to turn OFF
Those. <<<<<<< X6 >>>>>>>>>

Trim lights on the interior mid dash?

I like a dark lit interior when I drive in the evening

Overall happy w the New X6,
They didn’t mess with headlights / grill too much .

The lower gloss black front is… not wonderful - but in a darker color it should look fine. X6M60 I will order, ignoring the advice of the old sages thru life who have said to never order an 8 cylinder in the first year it comes off the line.

Finally, it's here...
Thankfully, I didn't wait for it.

The 50e with the new MSRP and no Tax Credit is almost $15-$20k more expensive than my 23.
TBH. It did make some solid improvements to the drivetrain and battery. It would be everything I wished for on the 45e.

Look wise, It's just little different, not necessary improved in my opinion. I am not sure I like the new headlights and taillights. I don't like the new front DRL pattern, I prefer the previous Laser light DRL better. I think the taillights will be better if they had changed the tailgate cutout to fit the new light pattern, instead of the flat black parts. iDrive 8 is another topic all together.

Those new prices is hard to look at, especially with Tesla model Y dropping to the mid $50s. I am guessing lots of folks are cross shopping both. I totally did.

That is a good question. I can't get into the manual right now but will post if I run across anything.

Edit: I didn't find anything that would turn off just that part of the ambient lighting (all ambient can be turned off of course) although there is ambience setting that may have some effect. There is also a setting for nighttime driving that may help some.

I’m surprisingly indifferent on the exterior changes, it’s not bad actually. But oof that illuminated x7 style dash design is goofy. Appreciating my 22 a little more now.

Sure, at a given moment, it is "supply." But my issue with this simple moment-in-time analysis is it lets BMW off the hook because, oh, they "can't get enough supply." As someone who works in complex manufacturing, the issue is much more nuanced, even with the pandemic "supply" (and demand) issues. By this point, I'd also blame poor planning and product management for any lack of options on this LCI.

Working in that environment then you can appreciate the issues that can arise when you have a sole source for an option. BMW can do all of the planning, forecasting, begging, pleading etc. but if the supplier does not supply the item there is nothing BMW can do about it. They actually have been operating very well, some have argued the best of any automobile manufacturer, given the supply chain issues. The only way they could have tried to ensure all options being available for the LCI would have been to hold back product from existing production. That would not have been a smart financial move in my opinion. When working with limited supply you do your best to maximize the use/profit of those items.

Couldn’t agree more with you - picked up a 23 M50i a few weeks ago and happy I didn’t wait. Not a huge fan of the new front end and too far on the interior to the electronics side for me. Still a gorgeous vehicle - glad I went the direction I did.

[QUOTE=Germanauto;29818941]Our salaries don't keep pace with the rate of inflation on these cars and everything else.

Maybe the tech bros who haven't been laid off can afford it.

LOL.

Is BMW bringing back Snapper Rocks Blue to the X6 or are my eyes deceiving me?

I love the clean crisp look of the LCI X5 especially in that color and rims. Will be ordering the 50e soon to replace our 2015 X5 diesel.

The changes doesn't excite me. I'm so glad I took delivery of the pre-LCI model.
