Steering Rack problwms in X5M F95 ?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com https://youtube.com/shorts/b6lw3h1w3bQ I have inspected everything from including tie rods, stabilizer bars , control arms other elements in suspension but there is no wear or noise to produce when car is on the lift up. When you put car down and you go under car and use hands on tie rods to move them up down the noise is produced as in this video https://youtube.com/shorts/2Ncl2mVrLIE Now I am not sure if my issue has to do anything with this https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...35180-9999.pdf I just can't live long with this noise and I will send soon to dealer and see what he says in my head its steering rack that needs change but if anyone of you has some information or something to add on this topic let me know. |

The first time my dealer changed the tie-rods.
It was OK for around 5000kms and the knocking sound came back geadually. 2nd time in and they replaced my entire steering rack. All's fine now. I believe the threaded part of the rack ends were the culprit, even when new female rod ends were installed they were fouled up again. |

Similar to your first video. Took it for an oil change and had them check the noise and that is when they told me about the SIB, and I am on some sort of waiting list for parts.

I scheduled today my change too when part comes...the dealer had some kind of access in a web portal like checking how many problems have been reported with steering rack part or how many modifications happened so far and there were like 4-5 or more cases so I believe steering rack is a weak point...god that we have warranty otherwise its very expensive as new part.
