I’m curious do you have your windshield tinted?

Bright doesn’t necessarily mean good. I’m certain that BMW can, but don’t make their lights brighter. It’s not like they’re incapable or that their R&D is for some odd reason a way behind the competition. Wouldn’t that be hard to believe? I’ve seen some research related to the headlight brightness affecting fatigue and concentration and it said that too bright was just as bad as too dim.

My two cents - Have had two X5s, both with laser, and I’m completely satisfied.

Also, FYI, IIHS gives the lasers their highest “good” rating.

See if they’ll let you take out another X5 with lasers after dark to see how they compare.

That is correct. The non-lasers are brighter than the lasers but they get rated as Poor by the IIHS due to glare.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why they’re not working for you or you would think they are not great I was impressed before I had the anti-dazzle feature activated now they’re even better and I live out where it’s very dark on country roads and they are lit up and I have a tinted windshield doesn’t make any sense to me and I have other brands, Audi, etc. Land Rover these are brighter than anything I’ve ever had. You definitely need to get to a dealer and sort this out.

This is nothing further from the truth.
My opinion is the exact opposite of yours.
BMW has the best headlights, bar none.

I am not a fan boy for any brands, but the BMW G05 Adaptive Icon headlights are not as good as my MB S580 LED intelligent light system. Less illumination, less coverage in front and the sides of the vehicle, less distance and coverage in high beams(mines are not laser) in comparison with the adaptive ultra-wide high beams. MB lights do not light up upwards like BMW ones do and therefore the reflective signs are not blinding me at night when there is no oncoming traffic. Maybe it is not apples to apples in terms of class of cars but it is also not fair to say BMW headlights are the best out there. Just my 2 cents.

I have to agree with the reflective traffic sign behavior. G05 headlight shine ina angle they I get a lot more reflection than previous cars, QX60, MDX, forester and older BMWs. It is the first car/headlight that I get distracted by reflective traffic signs. In term of illumination, I don’t see huge difference yet. I don’t think I have had too many encounters with laser activation tho.

Have laser on my 2020 X5 and have coded the dazzle lights. Love them! I think they are better than the lights on my previous MB EQS 580.

The Laser Lights are really good. Using them on dark country roads, insane illumination. Especially with the high beams going.

Isn’t laser only available at high beam?

The lasers only come on with the high beams when going over 38-mph and the ambient light is low enough...otherwise, if the high beams are on, the lasers are not.

I'm surprised by this thread. I drive on country roads a lot and these light up the next town!

Yes the lasers are brilliant, will pick up my LCI in 2 weeks and would certainly have ticked the box if they were available.

My eyes aren't the best but in about a year of driving this car 15k+ miles, I've never once noticed the lasers activating.

I do leave them in fully auto mode, if it matters.

Same here. Either they never get activated, or they don't make enough difference.

Add me to this list. Now I live in an urban environment, so it is unlikely they'd come on often, but I can't say I have noticed them on the highway either.

Nonetheless, whatever is or isn't activating, the headlights do a fantastic job.

Hi sorry your experience isn’t great with Lazers.
But the ones I had on my previous X5 50d, were just brilliant, literally the best extra I have ever had!
My current 50e aren’t a patch!
I have had several experiences were they have saved me.
The problem I had when I chipped one, and got the cost to replace, ouch!

The laser lights are fantastic on mine. With High beam on, I can see a mile a way. The limitations is my eye sights. Even, the regular low beam, they are very good. My Cayenne headlights aim were dangerously from factory. I had to adjust the aim quite a bit to be comparable to the X5.
Maybe your headlights aim are too low, pretty easy to adjust.
