Except for the attachment mechanism -- we need more varieties (lol).

I 100% agree. They are just freaking wiper blade. Buy what fits, and replace once a year before rain season. It is far better to replace once a year than buy the most expansive and don’t replace.

Just installed a pair of Rain X blades. Perfect fit. I wipe down the blades with 303 protectant about every 6 weeks. Keeps them pliable and prevents chattering.

What's the best wiper replacement for X5, preferably quieter ones.
Oem there always the best option and they’re always made to contour the windshield .

And they're almost always available on Amazon or ebay discounted directly from bmw dealers for around $50. Cheaper than icons.

I promised an update when I installed the PIAA blades so here I am.

I just installed a Si-Tech 26" driver side blade on my '22 X5 45e. There are lots of adapters in the package and I needed the 'M' base and 'A' adapter. Pretty simple install and seems to be working well.

It was the PIAA 97065 model:

Ignore Amazon's claim that it does not fit the '22 X5. It does.

I have the Bosch Icons and they're great! The install was really easy too.

How many of you use a hydrophobic treatment - such as RainEx - on your windshield? Claybar?

Thoughts/comments?

I just replaced my windshield wipers with BOSCH ICON and they are good. Much better cleaning in comparison to OEM. Bought from Amazon and installed myself in 2 minutes.

Always use RainX on all my cars! My wife and daughters will tell me when it's wearing off so that I can re-apply on their cars. I'd estimate that I need to re-apply every 2-3 months. Makes a HUGE difference.

I used to use rain-x fluid on all my cars, and then stopped in the X5 as I was told it could damage the system. I also stopped in the F30 (which I owned for.a decade) a few years ago, but I never had any issues with its system. I highly recommend to use in on the windshield and it makes driving in rain a lot more enjoyable and one can see more.

I used RainX but stopped in 2020 when we got a 540i and read about the damage it can do. I don’t want the inconvenience of an avoidable service visit. if I could, I’d rather use the washer fluid than the sponge applicator. additionally, I didn’t like how their wipers performed

Wait what was the problem with rainX wipers? I heard their fluid can damage resovoir sensor but haven’t heard the blade causing troubles yet

He is referring to the fluid not the wipers.
