proper driveline oils for X5
X5 Driveline oils: (M and export X5 models mentioned at bottom)
Best prices found for bmw type oils and transfer case fluid. Getbmwparts.com G2 through G5 are not related to GLx numbers on oil specs. They are just BMWs code numbers that they came up with starting with F chassis. They slip up sometimes and leave the oil weight sticker on them so this is how the info below was derived. If you measure what comes out, you don't need to have vehicle level. Ramps are much safer and easier. G2 is 75W85 for front diff GL5 83-22-2-413-511 500ml bottles Need about 800ml, but measure what comes out, but I saw legit videos showing the front filled all the way. Drain and fill plug. Remove metal panel first. Loosen fill plug first just in case it's stuck. Need to turn a 14mm allen style socket with a 14mm long wrench. G3 is 70w80 GL5 Rear Diff 83-22-2-413-512 About 850ml to be removed with suction. No drain plug. Transfer Case: 83-22-2-409-710 DTF1 (SAE 75W GL4) I have not learned the specifics for doing this one yet but expect close to a liter. Rear on M etc. not US X5 G4 75w80 GL5 says to shake well. 83-22-2-447-362 Has additives for the following cars. For M cars in US and all cars outside US that all have locker rear diff. |
