My X5 was early production, before gesture control was available. Even so, I disable gesture control on BMWs I drive for any time that have it. Unintended actions are annoying, like muting the radio whenever reaching for a beverage in a cupholder.

my car isn't inadvertently reacting to random hand positions/movements, so the SIB isn't applicable for my case. the mute is actually induced by me inadvertently because i naturally point my index and middle fingers (BMW's mute gesture) when touching the control display or front console buttons using the fatty pad of my middle finger. i disabled this gesture because i don't want to relearn how i point at the control display or console buttons. plus, it's already second nature for me to mute the system by simply tapping the radio volume button... courtesy of my wife's bimmers for the past 13 years

In idrive go to Media, with CP connected, and rest the cursor over Apple CarPlay - then press and hold your favourite button. Done. Same principle applies for Maps, and Comms |

Before you do what I outline below, please set a destination-- or else cancel destination won't even appear Having done that, from the Home screen: * Select NAV from the left. * Push the Control knob to the Right * CANCEL should be highlighted on right hand side of screen * With CANCEL highlighted, press pre-set button of your choice The setting of a destination (any destination) initially is what it took me a bit to figure out, but I guess it's logical Hope that helps!
