I think I selected APPS from the Home Screen and then scrolled over to highlight the drive recorder and then set the button. I didn’t actually open the drive recorder app, just had the app icon selected when I set the button.

Lol yes those are the ones. You can use the for radio presets if you'd like but it's a world of possibilities

Just curious on the use case of programming this. I don't have it set currently but maybe I'm missing something

Do you mean why have it set to one of the radio buttons? It makes it a little easier to manually start recording. Instead of having to navigate through the menus to get to the start recording icon, you press the radio button and it takes you there with start recording highlighted, so you just press down on the controller to start recording.

Yes, that's exactly what I wondering. Thank you for clarifying.

I actually have something that might help with that situation.

If you long press the Panorama View button, it'll initiate manual recording without having to navigate through the menu. Eliminates the need for a shortcut cause they basically built in a shortcut.

Alternatively you can set a widget on the home screen but I prefer the button leaving widget spaces open for more relevant stuff

I like sync for temp. Good idea

Seriously!

jg05 struck gold here. I've used this more than my CarPlay shortcut in the few days I've had it.

Good stuff man!

I didn’t know that about pushing the Panorama View button, but in fairness, it would probably be something I might forget. At least with assigned memory buttons, I can run my finger over them and the screen will show the assignments, so easier for me to remember that it’s on one of the memory buttons.

That's fair.

Whatever works best for you at the end of the day. I mean that's the whole point after all

Great suggestions from people. I didn't realize how much I missed the temp sync button which previously was on the dash in my F85. Redid my buttons:
Sirius preset
Sirius XM
Audio replay
Temp sync
Nav destination entry
Trip data
Vehicle status
Settings

I programmed #8 to turn off the control display. Handy at night when you just want to relax or focus on the road (we live far outside of town, in deer country).

If you have gesture control, you can free up a button for something else and turn off the central display by using a gesture instead

I know gesture control isn't everyone's cup of tea but personally I love it for things like this

I subscribe to the Drive Recorder so use memory button 8 for it. Sometimes I’ll see something that I want to take a picture of and just hit the button then tap the idrive wheel and it starts recording. Very convenient.

Just push and hold the Driver Recorder button for about 3 seconds and it will start recording. No need to assign one of the memory buttons for this function.

MustGoFast

On the iDrive, select CAR,DRIVING INFORMATION, TRIP DATA

You can select what the graph is for -- factory, trip, last fill up or custom. I use since last fill up -- I find this very handy

Hope that helps!
