Digital key set up

Hey guys!

I'm having an issue setting up a digital key, I've got both keys in the car went though the process from the idrive and by trying to set it up though the app. But no luck.

Could someone please help?

I get to the point where I put in the code or I open the connect app but then I get a "failed" message on the phone when I put it the wireless charger

Is there enough cell signals where you are doing this? Connected to WiFi?

May be not related, but last week I had to manually log out of the connected drive app on my phone and log back in, only then I was able to send address to the vehicle work again.

Yes, I've tried both outside and in the garage, so it's all a bit strange. I'll try to log in and back out maybe it will help cheers ☺️

I had the same error the couple first time I tried. The car didn't not need to be connected for it to work.

I just tried after closing the car and reopening it and it worked.

I think the only difference for Me was that I first went to the menu in iDrive before opening the app on my phone.

Try this way and let us know.

Have you tried putting the phone in the tray and going through iDrive to car/settings/doors access/ then select activate main key?

Tried everything but no luck

I tried both though the idrive and the phone.

The phone presents two ways to do it either open BMW connected or enter a code. None of which worked they both presented the error message which I've attached below.

I even rebooted the idrive system (by holding the on off button for 30 seconds) still no luck.

The other question I had was when I put the phone into the tray, and as it says "be aware of the notifications on the device" if I click the open the connected app option, nothing happens after this.

Turn the car off and try it (just accessory mode)

Have you verified that Digital Key is a feature in Russia? Some things are country specific

Yep, I called the dealership and they said it can be used in the country so it's pretty weird, I guess I'll try a few more times and if it doesn't work it'll have to be a trip to the dealer.

The vehicle needs to be in auxiliary mode only, the engine cannot be running. That's likely your issue — had the same error myself until realizing it. Keep both key fobs with you, press the start button without depressing the brake pedal, and try again.

I’d try this but there could be a chance the card is faulty...

I struggled for a day or two trying to get this done. Somehow it all the sudden worked, and the only difference was that I pushed the phone further up in the wireless charging tray. Then it paired successfully.

The issue was it it just can't be done with the engine on. HAS to be in auxiliary mode

It's ridiculous how it doesn't say it anywhere that the engine can't be on
