curb lights

the manual indicates there are curb lights that respond to steering angle. On our q7 when turning into the driveway clearly a light comes on illuminating the side. i dont see any change on the x5. have any of you guys noticed the light?

I was thinking this too. The cornering lights don’t seem to come on. They were obvious on our 2016 528i.

Would have thought turning the steering wheel should operate them not the turn signal.

Can someone take a picture of them on?

FYI, we have the Laser Lights.

Are you turning them on to the "auto" position or just turning them on to the "on" position? In the past, turn lights or curb lights only work in "auto", not "on". They should also come on when putting car in reverse (assuming selector switch is in "auto").

I should add, since they are in "auto", they will only come on if it's dark enough for the lights to come on.
This is all based on previous models I've owned. I don't know if the G05 is the same.

My custom online manual says I have them too (referred to as a "Cornering Light"). I don't have laser lights. But I too have not seen them in action yet ...

Yes. Headlights have been in "Auto" mode since we picked the car up. In our 528i we traded in they were very obvious when in reverse, with the blinkers on, or when turning the wheel. In the 528i's case the inner of the 2 "headlights" acted as the cornering light and would come on (not LED or HID, so was easy to see the additional yellowish light).

I checked my laser lights tonight and mine are not working either. I thought they were working last week with blinker on and when the wheel was turned half way thru turn. I remembered thought it was weird that they were delayed coming on compared to my past cars or my 2018 X3. I tried with light on , auto, and auto high beams. No difference. Also checked to see if corespondent fog light would come but it didn't. If they start working I'll repost.

I have that on my G30 and it's very noticeable. It will delay for a couple seconds after flickering turn signal, but the side or curb is illuminated very well.

Pretty sure it's the fog lights that come on for this. On the G05 fogs don't make as much a difference due to better lighting by the headlamps (led or laser lights). So it's not as noticeable but it does happen.

Cornering lights are integrated into the headlights. See item 5 for adaptive LED and 8 for laser.

Not sure if the L/R fog light also illuminate with corresponding turn signal on G05.

On the F15, cornering lights were integrated in the fogs and would activate:

- only under 25MPH
- when turn signal is used
- when reverse is activated
- by large steering angle

Coming from a 2017 Rover, I have been really impressed with the fog lights. Make a noticeable difference on mine. Standard adaptive LEDs. But I guess I do also drive on very dark narrow town streets and tight mountain canyon roads.

I find it odd that the feature is listed everywhere but there are no pictures or confirmation it even exist. We have a fairly large group here so my guess is it doesn't exist. I looked really close at my front end and i cant find anything.

See my post above. They exist. It's the inner most lighting element next to the slant closest to the grill in the headlight unit.

Manual states the conditions on how it's activated:

Adaptive light functions are active when set to AUTO

In tight curves, for instance on mountainous roads or when turning, an additional, cornering light is switched on that lights up the inside of the curve when the vehicle is moving below a certain speed.

In the F15 that certain speed was less than 25MPH

The cornering light is automatically switched on depending on the steering angle.

Usually it's more than 15 degrees.

When driving in reverse, the cornering lights may be automatically switched on regardless of the steering angle.

Both cornering lights come on in reverse.

I'll have to ask the service department about ours then. They don't illuminate on ours...ever.
