This first photo is of one of the LED/Laser headlights. You can see all the LEDs in there (the yellow squares).

The second photo is of the mirrors in the cornering light...that should angle the light 90 degrees to the side of the car. You can see 1 LED (the yellow square) reflected. If you get on your hands and knees and look up at the inside-top of the cornering light you can see the cutout where the LED is. So there IS an LED in there! It just doesn't come on.

Hopefully the BMWNA engineering request that my dealer has opened up will shed some light on this for everyone. Maybe this will even lead to everyone getting their cornering lights fixed!

They certainly work just fine on the 5, 7, and X3 that we tested at the dealer! I really don't see how all the cars left the factory without a documented feature in the manual working.
So should the NON-Laser headlights have cornering lights too?

No. I looked at 6 different G05 X5s on the dealer lot and they all had the standard NON-laser lights...none had the cornering light. So those headlights are most likely working as intended.

Would have thought the cars that have adaptive led lights have cornering lights.

Took my car out for a drive around the neighborhood last night and I can confirm that there is NO cornering lighting function on my car. At the turns where my 2014 F10's cornering lights would light up the left and right side of the road, I got nothing from the X5.

Mine's a week 49 build with laser lights.

What's going on? Hopefully this is just a coding oversight from the factory and can be easily remedied. Sigh.

Adaptive LED headlight should comes corning light ?

According to the training manual, the standard Adaptive full LED headlights should comes with " CORNING LIGHT ".

The Owner's manual also included corning light.

Not sure if the factory even installed Adaptive Full LED headlight on my
week 49 X5 40i ?

It only has " BMW LED " marking on the side.

I have a mid-Jan delivery (week 51 I believe) with laser light. The cornering lights are not working for me either.

My dealer has a report open with BMWNA engineering to address the issue. Hopefully will hear something by the end of the week. I’ll be sure to post here what I found out.

I wouldn't be surprised. However, since the LED cornering lights are functional on the 5, 7, and X3 that we tested at the dealer...as well as the previous X5 and every other BMW sold that has them, hopefully that means we should be in the clear.

Item #5 cornering light is not even there on my Oct build X5. No cornering lights, none...wrong light assembly or someone was drinking on the headlight assembly lines?

Not sure if the L/R fog light also illuminate with corresponding turn signal on G05.

On the F15, cornering lights were integrated in the fogs and would activate:

- only under 25MPH
- when turn signal is used
- when reverse is activated
- by large steering angle
