Exactly, he hasn't given us any details and everyone is jumping to conclusions. We don't see anything conclusive like the following from anyone with a G05:

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=165

We are guessing based on his profile that he is in the UK, don't know if the pic is from the posters G05, X6 (if they even have cornering lights) a dealer's car or what, and don't know much detail like build date. We have then somehow concluded that the story must be true - only US G05 cornering lights are nobbled.

So far with Australian G05 lasers (two early dealer 30d's) I have been unable to confirm working cornering lights. I hope to do more conclusive testing next week.

I've asked a poster over in the 50d thread with a newly delivered X5 and I ask NoCompromise to please, pretty please, do a video like the one ScottMZ3 posted here:

Haha sorry guys for taking the weekend off! I have posted before earlier in the thread (this one?) showing the beam coverage with wheels straight v full over.

X5 G05 - they seem to work but it is not night and day brightness so cannot be 100% sure (versus when the fog lights come on with older cars). Someone in the US take the same pic with wheels full over and let's compare?

If the curb light work there is no mistaking they are on. They shine to the side of the car not like fog light which shine to the front like the normal headlights.

That's sad news. Overseas customer orders that contained 5AZ had delayed build slots - March and later. Early delivery cars (launch and a few dealer stock) plus all M50d's that have arrived, testing says no working cornering lights (I plan to do more conclusive testing this week).

The hope was overseas 5AZ orders were delayed to "fix" whatever issue was causing malfunctioning lights. BMW can't use the excuse "California, the US, etc" when cornering lights don't appear to work anywhere in the world.

Just an observation. What if there is an issue with some hardware or software that can't just be re-programmed, and then magically in April all newly manufactured G05's get the new part - voila working cornering lights. Would that mean BMW is in effect admitting a design/manufacturing/part flaw - would BMW then have to make retro-fit parts available to all cars? Same goes for wrinkly rear leather. Perhaps BMW has decided too great a risk/cost - better to "fix" these issues in a new model year.

It will be a software update or if it’s a hardware malfunction, it will be a parts recall/retro fix. It’s done a lot in the industry.

I have a early build and my hardware is certainly there.

Let me understand this. Laser lights and cornering lights are combined in a single option, where cornering lights are those that slightly pan to the left or right, following the steering angle. If I don't have laser lights, I don't have cornering lights either. Is that right?

If so, another disappointment that this is not included. Both my 2008 E92 335i and my 2010 F07 535iGT have this as a standard feature. On page 54 of the promotional 335i brochure (really more of a magazine) that I still have, the feature is named "BMW adaptive headlights" and includes self leveling.

Cornering lights are lights that shine directly left or right at a 90 degree angle to the car to light up that area when you're at a stop (stop sign/light) to light the area you're about to turn to.

The lights the swerve slightly left to right with the steering wheel are called adaptive headlights.

I got a call today from BMW north america in response to an email i sent a month ago.He called while i was in a meeting so i ask him to make it short.
He said bmw knows the cornering lights are not working and they have developed the fix and the only thing he dosnt know is how they intend on implementation.
He indicated, if i understood correctly ,that only the lazer lights had the cornering function and led didnt have the hardware.

The bold part indicates that he actually knew what he was talking about (since it's accurate) so there is hope that the X5 with laser lights will have working cornering lights at one point in time.

Yea, but is there light at the corner end of the tunnel?

Thanks for the most helpful update in a while, magna. Let's see how BMW rolls this out and I'm hoping it'll be soon.

I've just received answer from my dealer.

They claim, that cornering lights work only in AUTO mode - they made even a test on their X5 and... those lights work :

About turn signal - they should work also, but only when driving and above 20km/h.

Laser high beams work and are still the brightest technology currently available. You still get to use the Laser high lume output in the US. That’s not “pointless” but rather compromised with their currrent programming as they can do so much more.
